NHS job interview

A few weeks ago, ( pre Covid19) I applied for a job, NHS. Last week, I was invited to interview next week. I obviously accepted as I hate my present job.
I’m presently working from home because of moderate asthma.
I rang the trust HR, to find out the interview policy at the moment, to be informed all recruitment is taking place under normal circumstances.....should I be concerned?
I have only been out about 3 times in the last fortnight for a walk.

Normal circumstances will still include social distance though surely?

I’m in a similar position with an nhs interview on Thursday for a job I applied for pre Covid 19.
HR have contacted me to arrange the interview over a video call. It’s going to be a bit strange but at least it can go ahead.
My main worry now, is that I’m in the vulnerable group who are supposed to be self isolating for 12 weeks, so not sure how that would pan out if I actually got the job.

I would have thought so! After all we don’t know each other from Adam.
The woman I spoke to was quite abrupt, I think she should have explained the safety protocol. She sounded a bit stressed, probably had a lot of similar calls.

This job is for a new clinic service, which I don’t suppose will start for a while now, as all the patients would be vulnerable!

Good point, mine is in community therapy and I can’t imagine they are visiting many patients at home at the moment.
Good luck !

Thanks, you too, stay safe.

In my experience with public services HR, it would take at least that long to get it sorted!
However, just explain to them. They won't be able to give you a start date until they see your documents etc. If you can't take that in, it can't proceed until you do. And they can not discriminate against you on grounds of health.

Also, if you’re new to the Trust, there has to be induction, so I can’t see a room full of 20/30 people happening any time soon.

Induction can be online

My trust has moved recruitment and induction online. I am surprised you are being asked to attend in person for an interview. We are doing phone interviews.

Cazz246 · 30/03/2020 23:20

There’s still a week to go so it could change to online, but I would have expected to hear about the change of arrangement by now. I’m also surprised it’s still in person!

We would struggle with a new starter due to distancing measures

WotcherHarry · 31/03/2020 08:30

I have an interview tomorrow for a band 6 post, but it’s being done by Skype. I know that band 5 interviews for my area of practice are still going ahead too. The panel for your interview have probably just been rushed off their feet!
Good luck!

Cazz246 · 01/04/2020 23:54

Thanks everyone for your input, had a message today, all interviews are postponed.
