New to Universal Credits question

As self employed I’ve had to apply to UC. The only benefits I’ve had are housing benefit due to not much overturn this year.

I’ve checked the advance séction and been offered quite a large advance. My question is whether I’ll have to pay my full council rent out of this?

I’m so new to this I don’t want to spend the money then realise I have a huge rent bill! Please help what do I do?

The universal credit includes a housing element that replaced housing benefit so yes it is likely that includes your rent. Minimum will be a standard allowance for either single person or couple and as you are renting the housing element.

You may get a two week run on for housing benefit. Remember that you have to pay back the advance so think about how much you will have left a month after repayment is taken.

Yes you will jave to pay your council tax and rent yourself from that advance and you need to reapply for council tax discount.

Yes, as we have recently experienced, you have to pay your rent as it's covered in Universal Credit. The only thing not covered is Council Tax Benefit, so make sure you update the council for that.
