What should we do today? (No school)

My two boys (age 6 and 9) are in private school so as of today their Easter holiday as already begun, as scheduled. I am now facing down almost four weeks with no structure of any kind. We are keeping up with a bit of schoolwork but they know it’s a holiday and we all could use a break from our one whole week of hell homeschooling.

So now it’s Day 1 of the Easter holiday. What on earth should we do???? We have lots of games and crafts and stuff but I feel like we should have at least one “tentpole” activity per day where I give them my full complete attention, whether that’s baking something, a more involved craft or outdoor game. Like the other day we read up on the (simple) physics of paper airplanes and then spent an hour making them.

But what about today??? They are 6 and 9. Any good craft or science experiments we can do with household items?

To be clear I give them plenty of attention the rest of the day but it’s interspersed with household jobs, communicating with friends and family, or just ignoring them for a bit :).

I was going to try these. You could stretch it out by getting them to decorate the rockets www.rigb.org/families/experimental/fizzy-bottle-rockets

There’s a Facebook page called The Great Isolation Bake Off which has a children’s category. It’s biscuit week this week and you just upload a picture of your bake. It’s being judged on Friday.

Get them to do 6 hours of schoolwork per day. It will give them something to moan-brag about when they're old. Grin
