Magazines free through libraries?

I’m sure I remember reading on mumsnet a while ago, that there was a way to read magazines on your phone or tablet via the library. I think it was free

Has anyone got more details please?

I imagine this varies depending on what part of the country you are in, but in my area if you go to your library's website page there is a link to the eLibrary (currently very prominent as obviously physical libraries are closed). Once in you, have to register (you need your library card number, but if you're not already a member the library are registering new members over the phone) for the service, and then you can just download magazines in the same way you would eBooks.

Hopefully it's similar where you are.

Exactly the same for us as for RedSky, but the library will register new members online.

Thank you. I’ll have a look now. We are library members, but I haven’t done anything online before.

I’m struggling to concentrate on books

I really love the online stuff: I use the audio books all the time, especially for listening before bed. Sometimes I listen to the children's stories just because they are easy and comforting.

We have a newspaper app and a magazine app and I use both quite regularly. The newspaper one is good (especially now) because it has a telegraph subscription and they definitely have an inside line on what's going to be happening. And the magazine one is great because who doesn't love national geographic or BBC good food?

I have noticed lots of library websites are really advertising their online content at the moment seeing as they are shut in person, so they seem to mainly come up on the front page.

Your library service may be signed up to the Press Reader app. I can access 1000s of titles using my library card number and PIN.
