Root canal - temporary filling fell out

Just wondering if there were any dentists about? I had a root canal done on an abcessed tooth around a month ago. Was due to return to the dentist last week to have it completed. There was a temporary filling in place which fell out yesterday.Sad I have used some diy at home filling kit, but the hole is so big it doesn't completely fill it. Instead the putty is falling out.
I am worried about possible reinfection. There is no pain at the minute and I would usually be able to get an emergency appointment at the dentist next week, but with the way things are at the minute I'm pretty sure that won't be possible. Does anybody have any advice?

You're not going to get an emergency appointment I'm afraid. Can you get some more DIY temporary filling? It is best if it's kept sealed up so that saliva doesn't get in. But if it's 'open' it probably won't get infected, just that it might not be clean enough in the long term to be filled and will need removing(Sorry if that doesn't make sense)

You will get an emergency appointment. You just need to phone around local dentists. I had one on Thursday. And obviously you will pay through the nose for it. I personally wouldn’t leave it.

Just now they’re only allowed to see you if it’s an emergency ie pain/ infection/ bleeding
So you may well not get seen unless it really really can’t wait
However you could call and speak to a dentist - ours are going phone triage

It sucks. It really does but the dentists have been given strict guidelines by their governing bodies

Thanks everyone, I'll give my dentist a call in the morning and see what they say. For now I'm going to try to keep it clean and pack it out with the diy filling. Fingers crossed!
