Grooming my big Labradoodle

Hello , my big girl ( dog) is very furry . She was due for a coat cut for the last 3 weeks full or the appointment has been cancelled due to ( what we are not talking about!) has anyone any advice about buying electric clippers and a viideo or book to help me she can keep going into the summer as she has started to have some matting , which she will not let me brush out ,

Eek. I wouldn’t. You could do some damage with clippers. Can you seek advice from your groomer?
How about daily thorough grooming to avoid matted fur?

Hi, I'm a groomer :) the main thing is keeping him well brushed. What you don't want is matting because that will be difficult for you to deal with! If your going to clip, invest in a decent pair. Cheapy ones just will not cut it, excuse the pun! The cheapest that will work are an Andis Two Speed, which you can get from Amazon for about £80-90 Depending on the length you want, you will need a blade that fits, Andis blades are about £25-30 each. I normally do a 4f on the body in summer, and scissor the legs, but please don't attempt that lol. So maybe you could do short all over, or buy a second blade for the legs 3 and 3/4 length. OR, buy a 10/15 or 30 blade (extremely short) and buy a set of Wahl clip on comb attachments, the coloured ones in a plastic box/tray, you'll have loads of lengths then. Then buy a grooming scissors (cheapy will do for use on face), maybe get bull-nosed/round nosed for safety. I do recommend Roseline though (about £40).
If your planning in doing it for the long haul, maybe a fold up grooming table with a H-Bar (largest size), which will come with a noose.
Lastly, a dog grooming dryer is ideal, you can pick one up for about £50 again on Amazon.

Haha..I'd recommend the same equipment again, just maybe different blades depending on the length you normally have them :) I'm no Youtuber 😬😂

I have recently acquired a large Golden Doodle.
A friend of mine who is a groomer did her for me (and she was a rescue and very badly in need) and only charged me £30 - I think i was very lucky as the equipment (and professional training) is expensive.

Thank You. OMG , I will need to think about it . I don't think I could put into a noose , especially if she was upset . The rest of the family would turn on me with clippers

Oldlace, yes it's alot of work so that's nice of her :) equipment is expensive to maintain too, it's nice to see people who appreciate what goes into grooming :)
Duff- the noose sounds bad. But what it is, is basically like a collar and lead, that when they have it on, feels like that, and deters them from jumping off the table. I personally only use when needed, it's just one piece of equipment, there are many similar!
Im self employed. Had been on maternity and began to re-set up my business (had been off months with hyperemesis), when this all happened. So my business is down the pan. For now at least. Will just be enjoying my 3 month old for a while I think. But boy do I miss it.

she came to my house so that my dd (ASD) could see the grooming (and keep the fleece, and it was a fleece) It took 2 hours in all!
She is qualified, experienced and was so calm with my dog - I could perhaps learn to groom in time, but I don't think it is easy for an owner to learn that deftness & confidence which is so calming for the dog

This a picture of the beast from the north east ( she came from Newcastle area) when she goes to the groomers it takes 2-4 hours.

Sugarpea enjoy the time with your baby . Fingers crossed it will be over sooner when we think . Then you can plug the clippers on again. It is a difficult job to do . I will need to brush and cut bits as I go .

This afternoon she got a plastic biscuit barrel, ate 10 pink wafers , 4 jammy dodgers and growled at me when I took it of her .
She is gorgeous, but a pain in the ARSE sometimes and bigger than we thought she would be. I thought standard meant average
