To ask about your clever extending tables?

I'm doing a bit of house rearranging to distract me from the world ending.

Our dining room is only really used on Christmas. I'd like to use it for a playroom/guestroom (unpleasant combo for guests, perhapsWink) and squeeze a table into our kitchen/diner. We've just used the 'diner' bit for a jumperoo and crap storage thus far.

I'd like a magic table that seats 4-6 but can seat 8 once or twice a year. Any ideas?

Oh, I titled this thread as if it's AIBU, despite deliberately chosing chat. 🤦‍♀️

These look really cool but quite expensive

You might find a second hand Ercol one. They either fold out from the centre after you pull apart the two ends or there is a hidden centre section stored under the table which you insert after the ends are parted. They used to make them in various sizes. I have one in my dining room and one in my Informal dining area next to the kitchen.
