Close to exchanging contracts on property...

Any updates on what's the recommended course of action?

I've done all of the paperwork (signing deed to transfer, mortgage deed, etc.), surveyor done, searches done, etc.

Solicitor says I can't complete in the next 3 weeks for sure (guess he means for however long lockdown is for), which worries me as it could go on for longer.

Halifax have said they are willing to extend current mortgage offers by 3 months but should you have written to them formally accepting the offer for it to be considered in this category?

I've also heard if the property I'm buying is completely vacant (no occupiers) which it is, then we can exchange and move even during lockdown.

I don't think I'd even massively require a removal van.

Any thoughts/experiences? Thanks

Have a look in the Home and Garden section for current experiences.

The Law Society and CLC both have guidance.

It is possible to exchange now with a flexible or far away completion date but even people who have already exchanged are being told they can only move if it's unavoidable.
