Birthday tomorrow and feel so down

It's my birthday tomorrow and no one gives a shit.

DH hasn't got me a present, the one thing I've ordered myself hasn't arrived and I've had to make my own cake which I now can't be bothered to finish off.

We'll be stuck inside but there's nothing special planned. I don't even want anything big, just a nice breakfast or something.

I know the world is falling apart and this is not important in the grand scheme of things but it just makes me feel really sad.

No reason for posting, just venting here because every time I think ahead to tomorrow I want to cry.

Happy Birthday OP. Hope you've managed to do something to mark the occasion. My SIL had a birthday yesterday. I told her to be like the Queen and have 2 birthdays. Can you select a date in the calendar for later in the year and tell your DH that you expect to celebrate your birthday on that date this year so can he please organise (or at least think about what he will organise) so you have something to look forward to - and make him give you an IOU.

I had a birthday 2 days before lockdown but even then was only able to get a takeaway lunch and sit in the park to eat it after we'd been for a walk (thanfully the sun was shining and it was actually a lovely day).

I completely agree it’s ok to be disappointed right now. I am disappointed my furniture delivery isn’t coming today. We all know there are other things going on but I think it all feels slightly worse when we’re stuck in the house.

Enjoy your day as much as you can tomorrow and then, if you let your DH know how important this is to you, he can plan a nice meal (or something bigger!) for when we are less restricted...

Can you get a take away delivered at all instead of going out for a meal?

Do you have any wine in the house (or something of whatever you drink)?

Can your DH do a quick food shop for a cake?

It is possible to still do something for a birthday even if it's not what you originally planned. If your DH can't use his own initiative, tell him what you want.

It's mine in a couple of days and I'm going to be spending it alone, my plans have been cancelled and I feel sad too.

My birthday is next week. I’ve already told everyone except DH that I’ll be celebrating in September. DH has been trying to make excuses for me not having anything all week, so doubt i’ll be getting anything either.

It was my 40th last week and it was a little sad but these things can't be helped. Some lovely mumsnet gets in here cheered me up when I posted about it.

It was my birthday recently and I got sod all from DH and DD so I know how you feel. It really didn't matter though as I can't think of anything I want just now - it doesn't feel right. Lots of birthday wishes from friends and family cheered me up 😊

@Frownette unfortunately not. We live very rurally in a tiny hamlet, not been able to get an Ocado slot despite emails saying we will get a priority slot. Our only neighbours are all over 70. We have no local family.

We have basic food in so won’t starve but nothing nice. I know there are worse things but I am really struggling. Being isolated with a small baby is hard, the days are relentless. We can’t go out until the 7 April at the earliest (baby had a temperature).

Could you have a luxury bubble bath with candles and a glass of wine, watch a good movie, get a takeaway, lie on the couch and be waited on for the evening?

Mine is in a couple of weeks. As it’s in the school holidays we always go on holiday. Once our holiday was cancelled I thought ‘well at least I can spend it with my friends’.
Nope. No chance of that now!

Oh that's a shame Megan - short of a high speed amazon delivery not sure what else to suggest. Check with local helping groups? I can imagine it's stressful with the little one

We are surviving on what we have in the house, we are out of all fresh food and bread now but we have a stocked freezer and tins/jars and pasta.
Allegedly will get an Ocado slot at some point as we have an anytime delivery pass and apparently this will get us a weekly slot. It’ll be too late for birthday but will be ordering a fuckton of cake....
