I'm shaking with anger.
DH took 15 month old out to the van, I assumed he was putting stuff away and keeping LO entertained while I make a drink.

2 mins later I look outside to find he's putting the van on the drive with LO on the front seat!!!

I'm furious, told him it's illegal but apart from that what if someone was coming round the corner at speed!!

Honestly don't know what goes through his head at times, or what doesn't ☹️

OP doesn’t say he drove the van. She says he went out to the van. I assume on their driveway or property.

PleaseStopCrying · 27/03/2020 18:23

Not capable of calculating a risk of a child with no car seat. Wouldn't say he cares an awful lot tbh!

Yet still less of a risk of injuring his child than strapping him into a car seat and driving down a motorway. He was probably in a moving vehicle for less than a minute. Hardly the crime of the century even less so given how few cars are currently on the roads.

Certainly not something worth shaking with anger over. It would be more sensible to have a conversation like adults and say next time can you bring him back into the house whilst you reverse the van.

dementedpixie · 27/03/2020 18:26

This suggests to me that he did drive the van:

putting the van on the drive with LO on the front seat!!!

She said he was "putting the van on the drive". he was driving it.

SoupDragon · 27/03/2020 18:32

Not capable of calculating a risk of a child with no car seat.

Or, he is perfectly capable of calculating the risk of a child with no car seat in a van that is being moved from the road to the drive.

Gabrielknight · 27/03/2020 18:33

Chill out.....

Gettingo · 27/03/2020 18:37

I would be furious too. Wth it's so dangerous, and where are his safety instincts! Mumsnetters are so weird at the moment. Driveway accidents happen.

Pentium85 · 27/03/2020 18:39

Ahhh I bet your household is filled with so much fun.

My DS, 18 months, loves car, and I regularly let him sit on the front seat and go up and down the drive. He even puts the key in the ignition and puts it in 1st gear.

Chill out OP otherwise this whole parenting thing will break you.

Vinylsamso · 27/03/2020 18:42

Drama queen

sofasocks · 27/03/2020 18:44

My husband did that. Barely moved the car but breaker and the kid shot forward and head butted the dashboard 😂

playthestation · 27/03/2020 18:45

I'm shaking with anger.

That's a really unhealthy state to be in over something really minimal. I would hate to be you when you actually have reason to be angry. You must be on the verge of spontaneous combustion!

Are you isolating together? Downing more time with him than normal?

PepePig · 27/03/2020 18:46

Are you always this hysterical?

pooopypants · 27/03/2020 18:49

shaking with anger? Really?

The roads are practically deserted and he drove a few yards, probably in first gear. There are much bigger things to 'shake with anger' over OP.

Seriously, and in a non-pattonising way, see your GP about your anxiety.

YABU

At least some people agree with me!

OP posts:
playthestation · 27/03/2020 18:52

putting the van on the drive with LO on the front seat!!!

At least he didn't just throw him in the back Grin

Pentium85 · 27/03/2020 18:53

Ahhh yes OP, about 1% agree with you, and therefore you must be utterly correct in your thinking.

On a serious note, this level of anxiety sounds unhealthy and I would look into it further.

Stillmonday · 27/03/2020 18:53

What was the likelihood of the whole world being on lockdown because someone in China ate something infected by a bat ? Slim hey?

Probably more chance of being hit by a speeding car coming round a corner I'd say 💁🏻‍♀️

HelloBolloxMyOldFriend · 27/03/2020 18:54

Sorry, I am confused. Did your DH drive somewhere or about to drive somewhere?

feebeecat · 27/03/2020 18:57

Unless your husband is Prince Philip YABU.

playthestation · 27/03/2020 18:57

I can't believe you are being so flippant about the seriousness of this crisis we are in just to try and be 'right' Sad

You can't compare your partner moving a van with your child in it to a global fucking pandemic.

Go have a cup of herbal tea and clam your tits.

Pentium85 · 27/03/2020 18:58

OP, you're most recent post seriously makes me concerned about your anxiety levels because you're trying to justify something being likely to happen that is actually incredibly unlikely.

SoupDragon · 27/03/2020 19:00

Probably more chance of being hit by a speeding car coming round a corner I'd say

Except he wasn't. There were no speeding cars.

letsjog · 27/03/2020 19:03

Hope the drink you were making for yourself was chamomile tea OP.

Shaking with anger? Really?

My DP has done that with DCs a few times moving car from under house to further down another part of drive after unloading groceries , about 20ft in first gear. They love it. It's ok.

Monsterjam · 27/03/2020 19:03

Oh I do this all the time the kids love it. Maybe a bit of an over reaction but if you are not comfortable just have a calm conversation about it not happening again

Herpesfreesince03 · 27/03/2020 19:05

Oh get a grip op. ‘Shaking with anger’ seriously?? 😂😂
