The yeast reaction will take too long for what you're after.

Possibly another acid? Lemon juice? with your bicarb I mean.

CatToddlerUprising · 27/03/2020 14:25

Baking powder with ketchup and some washing up liquid?

CatToddlerUprising · 27/03/2020 14:25

You could even add in some salt

woodencoffeetable · 27/03/2020 14:31

lighter fluid?

I know, I ask dc do build one again with enough space for the mini blender...

If you have lighter fluid, bicarb and icing sugar you can do a pretty good experiment with that!

Mix sugar, bicarb together, pout onto sand or dirt, cover in lighter fluid and set it alight. A reaction occurs and makes the sugar mix look like a creeping black monster. Smells like marshmallows too.

woodencoffeetable · 27/03/2020 14:56

no bicarb, just baking powder.

ohhhh I have an idea. we have sparklers. will not pop and fizz but look impressive.

Sparklers and lighter fluid? What could possibly go wrong?

woodencoffeetable · 27/03/2020 16:09

yeah, better not.
maybe dc has to paint lava or something...
