Is anyone receiving any post?

I know the postal service is under massive pressure at the moment, just wondering what's managing to get through and how long it's taking? I had something posted 1st class on Monday that's not here yet, I wasn't expecting it to arrive the next day or anything but just wondering what a reasonable time scale is!!!

I'm receiving post, and also flyers, for Dominos etc, and this morning I got some stuff from Heals' about their sale. Just a bit silly.

mencken · 27/03/2020 14:38

flyers etc keep the post office in business. Junk mail personally addressed to you - you signed up for it (perhaps didn't see a tick box?) and can stop it.

all incoming post should be left on the doormat for 24 hours. If you see your postie, wave and keep well away. And keep your letterbox clean.

Got the council tax bill alright!!

joystir59 · 27/03/2020 14:49

I didn't get the council tax bill!

BobbinThreadbare123 · 27/03/2020 14:55

Nope. Haven't had any post, including junk, for about a week now.

midsomermurderess · 27/03/2020 14:57

Well, I guess I am signed up for Heals's stuff but not Dominos, not Farmfoods, not my local takeaway. But if it keeps people in some kind of work I can't complain.

midsomermurderess · 27/03/2020 14:58

And I'd say now is not the time to complain about receiving one's council tax notification. We can see clearly where we end up if we don't fund our services.

I’m in Derbyshire and only had post on Monday this week. Expected a few things throughout the week so I’m expecting it all to arrive at once maybe tomorrow or start it next week.

BumpkinSpiceBatty · 27/03/2020 15:07

I ordered caterpillars to watch turn into butterflies for my childminding children a month ago. They were supposed to turn up on tuesday....scared to open thebox when they do arrive...eeek!
Not complaining though, fully understand the awful conditions our amazing posties are working with.

Facefullofcake

If you ring the PIP helpline and listen to all the recorded guff, you will hear that they are extending deadlines to 3 months now, due to the Coronavirus disruption. (Don’t take my word for it, ring the number on your letter and have a listen to be sure.)

Best of luck.

Heismyopendoor · 27/03/2020 15:25

I got a big wad today, haven’t had anything all week.

PickMeImNice · 27/03/2020 15:27

Yep, every day as normal here in Lancs

Facefullofcake · 27/03/2020 15:42

@ItsABitOfAShitFightMate - thank you! That's set my mind at rest for a while.

I just had a 'what do I do about Welfare Rights help?' moment as well - I called them and they've said they're doing telephone appointments for help with forms when it's needed, as well as confirming the delay.

Thanks again :)

ItsABitOfAShitFightMate · 27/03/2020 21:34

Oh good.

Yeah I was supposed to have a CAB appointment on Monday, but then it was a phone call, plus another phone call on Wednesday (poor bloke who helped me!).

It’s much harder to get stuff down when there isn’t someone sitting next to you reading it at the same time.

It’s been a beast of a week but I got the sodding thing posted off yesterday (PIP mandatory reconsideration letter).

So if you have a telephone consultation and at the end feel you need more help, see if they’ll ring you again, and in the meantime you can try to get your head round it, if that is possible for you.

Witchend · 27/03/2020 22:28

I got something today posted 11 days ago 1st class.
