Tell me something good that happened today

Just a bit of lighthearted chat.
Today I got to leave work a bit earlier , got to hear our little girls heart beat (almost 18 weeks, due August with our first), DH didn’t get called out to emergency nurse shift , and the sun shone all day.

What was something (or more than one!) that made you feel good or somewhat happier today?
Oh and our street clapped for us NHS workers which made my husband and I feel very much appreciated 💕

This definitely made me smile.

I'm on a FB group for bereaved parents. I was talking earlier to a friend about how upset I was that I couldn't go to dd's grave. I usually go 2/3 times a week.
I recieved a PM from someone in the group I don't know personally who lives next to the cemetery.
She asked if it would be ok to place flowers on the grave for me. She took flowers from her garden and made a beautiful wreath and sent me pictures.

I'm so grateful to her, it really made me feel much better.

Two men arrived to fix a snap all leak on my roof
Our local town page had this chap offering to do them for pensioners free of charge
He had a look, and my dh gave him a spare tile.
Unfortunately his grinding tool kept shorting out and So he took the tile away home to cut it.
He will bring it back tomorrow
I offered to pay him and he won’t hear of it
So that’s a donation to our local food bank on its way and o don’t have the worry of the leak getting bigger.

I also got the privilege to run my dh to the docs for his prescription . It wasn’t ready, so ran him down to the beach.
Went back and they didn’t have his drugs so I get to do it all tomorrow

Yayyyy me/ us even
Something to look forward to

Snap all = small

Patsypie · 27/03/2020 00:13

I cleaned the house, had lots of wine, made my bed with lovely new bedding & pillows, had a 2 hour bath and....sorry to lower the tone but had my first ever orgasm! 🥳

TreacherousPissFlap · 27/03/2020 00:14

I did my 10000 steps.
Not a big deal but I've just finished a 12 hr shift sat on my increasingly lardy arse.

Todays new social distancing regime has meant we've been scattered around to the four corners of the building and the effort it's taken me to navigate my way around means I hit my target, and that's without walking the dog as DS has taken that duty over.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 27/03/2020 00:21

I had a really good day.

DS14 with ASD and I managed not to have a communal melt down over home learning, helped hugely I'm sure by him having a cycle on his own rather than chumming me on a dog walk. Then he hoovered! Lovely boy.

DFriend and I were supposed to be going out for wine, so she Skyped me just after she finished work. Which meant wine got opened quick sharp. I then managed to do a bit of my hobby online. Then I made dinner for me and DH, with more wine. Now I'm happily pissed and thinking about bed, but feeling like I packed a lot of stuff and a lot of people in.

@zeddybrek Snap! Same age, same accomplishment. So proud, and now facing the possibility I might get fit again now she's off her slow balance bike.

Didn't rain till 4pm
Kids liked and ate chicken fried rice for supper
Kids went to sleep without any problems at all
My hair is bizarrely less greasy than usual
Gas is extremely cheap, so don't feel guilty driving around with the kids
Kids have been sleeping late, I'm enjoying the lie ins
Loving the new Freud series on Netflix - Freud is seriously yummy

managedmis · 27/03/2020 00:36

Patsypie

^^

Bravo! Wowser 🤪

We like the lowered tone, BTW

Wheresmrlion · 27/03/2020 00:39

Taught my 13 month old how to do a high 5. Then got her to happily toddle between me on one sofa and DH on the other giving us high 5s and giggling madly for about ten minutes. Lovely Smile

My ds actually had fun doing some writing with me today, and wanted to completely finish the task. He was in the process of a dyslexia diagnosis before the schools were shut, but actually managed to take his time and spell things correctly (with quite a bit of help). I felt so proud of him. Doesn't seem like much but usually I can't even get him to do homework, so this was a win.

Thegreymethod · 27/03/2020 03:07

It was my son's birthday and we've been self isolating for 2 weeks (had a different big event the week before that and was waiting for payday get his presents) so I've been so worried about getting him presents..... not even specific things just something to open and we managed, had a lovely, but strange day! Found a note on my pillow this evening thanking me and dad for the best birthday ever! I'm not sure it's the truth me made me feel emotional reading it.

EmpressMcSchnozzle · 27/03/2020 04:17

We took the cats out into the garden, including the new one. He's about 4 months old and normally would be going for a snip and chip but obviously won't be under the current lockdown, so he has BAGS of energy.

He had lots of fun running round the garden when we worked out a way to give him a bit of freedom on his harness and leads, and he was so worn out when we brought him back in he didn't even try to climb the curtains today.

Meanwhile older female cat spent the time perched up the apple tree, looking down at him and chuckling. When she wasn't pouncing on his lead, that is.

And then we had coffee and bagels for breakfast as a treat.

I downloaded the book for my book club on Saturday on Audible and have been sitting listening to it. (book club is now via zoom before anyone shouts at me!)

I opened my lovely Lush sleepytime set from Christmas and had a nice shower with some gorgeous moisturiser afterwards.

TrashPanda · 27/03/2020 04:43

I got the toddler to nap, he's just 2 and starting to fight his nap but he gets really grumpy around dinner time without one. The days are a lot less stressful when he has a sleep, gives me an hour with the older ones to help with the work school have set and makes dinner time much more pleasant.

Tillygetsit · 27/03/2020 04:44

I found a packet of spaghetti in the back of the cupboard!

Retracactableclaws · 27/03/2020 06:42

I put my wetsuit in my bag and went to the beach.. with my 3 year old husky, got in the freezing water and finally got her to swim with confidence, she is such a baby and would only go in up to her belly untill yesterday

OddshoesOddsocks · 27/03/2020 06:49

It was dd1s birthday yesterday, she got an iPod touch and spent much of the afternoon FaceTiming her friends that she’s missed so much. She’s generally awkward on the phone but hearing her conversations and laughs coming from upstairs was so lovely.

So many people made the effort to make her birthday special and it really meant the world to both of us.

Also, dp finally got stood down from work (til Monday anyway!) while his bosses argue over whether they’re key workers or not!!

Bonkersblond · 27/03/2020 06:51

My Tesco shop was delivered more or less complete, we have food, we’ve been self isolating for 2 weeks. Thats our last online shop for foreseeable future due to no slots available. My neighbour left cake on our door step, things have been a bit strained so this olive branch made me very happy not to mention lemon drizzle is my favourite.

BillyAndTheSillies · 27/03/2020 07:01

@TurnedOutToes no idea how I managed to miss out the key word in that part - virtual!!

It was over zoom and broadcast to our TV!

GaaaaarlicBread · 27/03/2020 07:46

Love all of these thank you so much !! Out a huge smile on my face this morn reading these x

@UbercornsGoggles

Exactly! Well done to the both of them. Going for a bike ride together would be so cool and turn play time into a chance to exercise finally!

Whatthefunk · 27/03/2020 09:44

On my walk, around our village my friend waved to me, from her window. Simple pleasures Smile

Flippinfab40 · 27/03/2020 09:52

DD was offered a degree apprenticeship! So pleased for her. It seems strange that companies are recruiting and making decisions for the autumn but it feels reassuring that some things are carrying on as usual.

SoapIsYourFriend · 29/03/2020 00:01

My DS got predicted all 9s in ten GCSEs. Can't tell anyone irl or it sounds like I'm bragging.
