Don't know what to do about DH - in pain

Any advice?

DH has been poorly nearly a year - initially pericarditis, then post-viral fatigue, then chest/upper stomach discomfort that is still ongoing. He's been on all the anti acid meds there are and they haven't really helped. He was due to have a gastroscopy this week but obviously that was cancelled. The pain has ramped up this week and tonight it's sharper, all across the top of his stomach and he's really struggling.

What the hell do I do? I've got 2 DC here. I mean it could just be really bad trapped wind but I haven't seen him like this before. Can't be gallstones as all up the middle of his chest, not on one side. Docs were wondering about a hernia but no idea what that would feel like. I'm worried it's something bad and he won't be able to get help.

.mayoclinic.org
Costochondritis is an inflammation of the cartilage in the rib cage. The condition usually affects the cartilage where the upper ribs attach to the breastbone, or sternum, an area known as the costosternal joint or costosternal junction. Chest pain caused by costochondritis can range from mild to severe.

Brilliant, will look into these. I don't feel so on my own now.

iheart if he has any kind of stomach issues he really, really shouldn’t be taking anything with ibuprofen or aspirin in. They absolutely strip the stomach lining.

Don't take ibuprofen if having stomach issues. Centre area could be a few things, some serious - won't scare you - but he needs checking. 111, don't be surprised if they want him into hospital though just for checks.

If he has pain in his stomach he should not be taking ibuprofen - it might actually be causing the increased pain , paracetamol only

Dodie66 · 26/03/2020 22:25

I too can’t take ibuprofen. It makes stomach pain worse

IHeartKingThistle · 26/03/2020 23:02

Oh God yes I won't be letting him take any more.
