Where will you go on your next holiday?

You have an unlimited budget (within reason. Not helicopter or personal chauffeur driving you everywhere type budget)

Where will you go and what will you do? I can't decide between a walking holiday in Scotland where I tick off a few Munros or a horse riding holiday in Wales. I know I want somewhere with good tearooms so I can sit in them and eat properly nice slabs of cake. With that said, Cornwall also tempts.

A friend has been in Tasmania since the beginning of the year. It looks stunning so I'd quite like to spend 4 months living a quiet life in a beachfront house, reading and swimming.

(obviously I'd have to take DH and DD so a quiet life is out of the question!)

Eskarina1 · 27/03/2020 21:15

With just grown ups or when my children are older, Brighton.

Now, a big house (or Scottish island)with my sister, best friend and our families, lots of space to explore, private beach.

KenDodd · 27/03/2020 21:27

We were supposed to go to California today. We'd be on the plane now.

This whole thing has made me rethink though. See the earth recover from all the damage we usually do to it I think maybe we shouldn't really be going on trips like that anyway. Scotland would be lovely, Highlands, Islands and Edinburgh festival. I'd love to go to Russia, is it possible/easy to drive there?

Branleuse · 27/03/2020 21:30

still hoping to go down to my partners house in france in the summer if this shitshow has calmed down by then.
If not then ive managed to transfer what should have been my easter holiday to october, so fingers crossed

shinynewapple2020 · 27/03/2020 22:25

Well I'm hoping it's going to be to the North Wales coast at the end of June as that's the next holiday I've got booked. Not sure if there's any chance of that happening?

Raera · 28/03/2020 10:13

@shinynewapple2020
We have also booked Conwy and Anglesey campsites for the same time, fingers and toes crossed for seeing pufflings on a boat trip around Puffin Island.
Love puffins!

I really fancy going to the Azores, it's such an unusual and interesting landscape. The flights put me off a bit though, it's not that it's a long way away it's just that you can't go direct and even the shortest wait in Lisbon is quite long. DH suggested that we stay for a night or two in Lisbon, which would work quite well.

vampirethriller · 28/03/2020 16:46

I was going to take the baby and the dog to St Ives this summer, so we'll probably do that.

Livingthecovidaloca · 28/03/2020 19:36

Dream trip for the future would be the Trans Mongolian railway, taking the train all the way from London, then flying back from Beijing.

turkeyboots · 28/03/2020 21:00

DH has been planning out his ultimate ski holiday today. Me, all I want right now is a child free spa break.

TheBenefitsPeople · 28/03/2020 21:03

I want to take my children and my husband to visit my family in Jordan.
Or drive across France and Spain with our tent, stopping wherever the fancy takes us!

Genderwitched · 29/03/2020 16:33

Ds was going on a school trip to Iceland in April, very much looked forward to. So we plan to save up and all go in the next couple of years, do a touring holiday and see all the geographical features that he would have seen. Depending on the job situation of course.

My absolute dream holiday would be a train ride through the Canadian Rockies.

NotSorry · 29/03/2020 19:59

@Genderwitched

My DS was supposed to do that trip last Easter and the airline went bust one week before so it was cancelled

They rebooked it for this Easter… you couldn’t make it up 😂

CottonSock · 29/03/2020 20:10

I'm thinking of only booking last minute for the next few years..Our Feb holiday was already cancelled by storms then this. So, where ever is warm the day I book. I've done Paris and Lisbon using this last minute approach and both fabulous. Similar again probably, European city, near countryside and beaches. Not sure I'll top Lisbon though.

Genderwitched · 29/03/2020 20:45

@NotSorry Oh that is disappointing for him.

DS was very disappointed, he has missed his GCSEs and Prom as well, but seems to have made a full recovery Smile

drspouse · 29/03/2020 20:56

Fingers crossed for skiing next Jan or March, was going to be Norway next week but may go for Austria in Jan instead.

Ponoka7 · 03/04/2020 10:28

If we get a vaccine or become immune, I'm going to take my grandchildren now 2&5, to Pirate Village Santa Ponsa. It's a child based holiday and I know people who've been and the children have loved it.

If it was just me and my DD (23), I'd go to Canada or Iceland, but probably Canada.

But I'd love a family based holiday.

sanityisamyth · 03/04/2020 13:15

Guadeloupe to see where Death in Paradise was/is filmed

Mixitupalot · 04/04/2020 10:36

I’ve just priced Greece for next year... it was double what we normally pay! Might stay in the UK after all.

freddiethegreat · 18/04/2020 00:43

I may have accidentally booked my happy place on the Llyn Peninsula for the end of August two days ago. Surely? Maybe? Hopefully ... it will happen?

Deadringer · 18/04/2020 00:55

Canada. My dd is is there, its not a place i have ever really fancied visiting, but i have changed my mind after all this, i would love to go and see her
