The beano

A couple of weeks ago Dd2 (9) was at my mum and dads and my dad gave her some beano comics that he found in the loft, they belonged to me from the 70s/80s. The older kids weren’t interested but she laughed and laughed and I’ve never seen her so keen to read.

Because we can’t go to the shops I was thinking of a subscription for her. Does anyone still get the beano on subscription? Is it as good? Do they still get the gifts on the front? Any other benefits?

We used to a few years ago my kids loved it.

My dd is just coming to the end of her one year subscription - you don't get the free gifts ( tbh I was pleased about that) She's really loved it - gets it every Saturday morning so a great start to the weekend. She's just turned 14 but loves the silliness as light relief from life!

Yes. My 10 and 8 year old DC love it and fight over it every Saturday.

My ds 7 gets it every week and LOVES it. He never throws any away and rereads them over and over again. Modern version has new characters and the old faves have been cleaned up a little but still good fun!

We’ve been getting it for years. 13 yo and 10 yo still read it and it’s been a great investment. Especially for DS who is not a keen reader.

Oh brill I’ve ordered it, can’t wait, I mean cough DD can’t wait lol
