Listen to Radio 4, try "It's a fair cop" on Friday at 11.30 a.m.
Really funny programme
So does anyone else have anything to recommend that others haven't tried?
Things to make us smile of course

The News Quiz extra always works for me. Peter Crouchs podcasts are funny too

TeenPlusTwenties · 25/03/2020 20:29

Most of Radio 4. I can recommend More or Less. (and The Archers Archers )

The annoying thing is sometimes I catch the same programme twice, quite often having missed the start.

ScrapThatThen · 25/03/2020 20:38

I quite like Breaking the News which is a Scottish news quiz comedy show on Radio 4/BBC Sounds.

MillicentMargaretAmanda · 26/03/2020 15:49

No longer Radio 4 (unless they've done a recent rerun) but if you want some fabulous radio comedy, Cabin Pressure.

rosegoldwatcher · 26/03/2020 17:19

If you like 'Would I Lie to You" on BBC1 you will also like "The Unbelievable Truth" on Radio 4. Hosted by David Mitchell. Series 16 is currently on iplayer.

I'm a regular Archers listener too!
Great suggestions here.
I'm lucky to have been to two recordings of "I'm Sorry I haven't a Clue"
But, sorry I can't divulge the rules of Mornington Crescent!

If you don't usually...
Listen to BBC 6 music. On Sundays at 3.00 p.m. Guy Garvey's Finest Hour.
Not just for Elbow fans, he plays all sorts and is so lovely.
OK I admit it, Guy Garvey is my secret crush!

The NOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWW Shoooowwww tonight was very funny. repeated tomorrow at 12.28 or something on radio four.

KizzyWayfarer · 28/03/2020 09:37

Just one episode in snippets but I think this classic Just a Minute is a delight

Davros · 28/03/2020 10:58

If you're in London, you can't beat Robert Elms on BBC Radio London imo. Mornings Mon-Sat.

1066vegan · 29/03/2020 09:14

@Raera I love It's a Fair Cop and hadn't realised there was a new series. Thanks for the heads up. I'm at work at 11.30 in the week. Any idea if it's being repeated at another time? Otherwise I'll need to faff about with the dreaded Sounds app.

poppadopolis · 29/03/2020 10:16

It's a Fair Cop is superb.

I also love Round Britain Quiz, but it makes my brain hurt.

1066vegan · 29/03/2020 10:34

I've got Round Britain Quiz on my podcast app. I prefer it to listening live because I can pause after each question to give my brain a bit of thinking time. I never work out a whole answer but I can sometimes get bits of one.

Davros · 29/03/2020 11:48

The Sounds app is brilliant once you get to grips with it, I highly recommend it

Raera · 29/03/2020 12:42

@1066vegan
According to BBC website it's just Fridays.
I agree with @Davros that Sounds is ok when you've payed around with it.

Maybe I need to make a bit more effort with the sounds app. I do have it on my phone but don't find it very intuitive. I liked the old iplayer radio (or whatever it was called) and get a bit grumpy when things are changed.

Davros · 29/03/2020 13:06

I was just the same but I think Sounds has improved since it was launched and it's fantastic to pick your favourites, listen live, massive archive. Give it a go!

RaininSummer · 29/03/2020 13:23

I listened to Radio 4 book of the week yesterday. They have the new Hilary Mantel being serialised at present with 10 episodes currently available.

Raera · 29/03/2020 17:45

Yeah! I've just seen this cabin pressure thread on Chat!!!

@Raera thanks for linking to the other thread. The link to Arthur's quiz is brilliant.

Nomnomarrgh · 12/09/2020 21:25

Knowing me knowing you
The Men From the Ministry
Not in front of the children.

I do like a nice bit of old radio comedy

TeenPlusTwenties · 07/01/2021 16:16

I've been listening to back issues of The Cold Swedish Winter which is gently amusing.
