Is there a legitimate reason why it is important / necessary / worthwhile to have one's loud stationery motorbike idling outside one's house for hours on end?

I'd love to know the answer. It seems to be a thing with motorcyclists (for whom I have nothing bad to say- they're usually very respectful drivers and as a cyclist, they treat me a little bit like one of their own on the road). But yeah, I'd like to know as well, for curiosity's sake. Grin
