Has anyone done it, as an adult (late 40s) and is it a total faff?

TIA

Did it late 30s, free online, no faff.

Pinkpeone1 · 24/03/2020 23:41

Did it online £25 with solicitors. They send you the deed poll document by post. It's very easy.

Which country?

In Scotland you can re register your birth

UK. I guess there's a heck of a lot to change after changing the name via deed poll?

Which country?

I'd put money on the fact that anyone who answers 'which country?' with 'UK' lives in England.

I don't disagree. I even mentioned one of the U.K. countries to give OP a clue in my first reply!

OP, the reason playthestation asked which country is because the UK has three separate legal systems - England and Wales share one, Scotland has its own and so does NI.

So any answer will depend on which jurisdiction you're talking about.

And while the process will likely be straightforward, the faff will be around the administrative burden created by the change. Although plenty of women still charge their name when they get married, so it will be no more onerous than that, really.
