Disclaimer ; I MAY BE WTOMG, but as I understand it.

Are you self isolating or protecting a sheilded person?

You should self isolate if you have symptoms or someone in your household has symptoms.

If you are self isolating you can claim SSP.

The 80% I believe is to be used as a last resort to stop employers making people redundant as a result of CV. Or for those businesses told to close by the governments, or those who have no childcare due to the school/nursery being closed and they are not a key worker.

I may be wrong, that's how I see it.

My brother received a call from his GP to say he needs to be sheilded, his partner is a teacher. She is still working as is a teacher. If your loved one is sheilded, they will be told so and you will as a household be given advice on how to handle the next 12 weeks. Others in the household can still work by the way. I have read the document.
