Have you aged ten years overnight on a supermarket website?
Are you sticking to the 'two sheets' rule?
Have you had it with singing celebrities?
Are you yearning for what we will now call The Before Times?

If you've answered yes to any of the above, here's where you come to post threads about Naice Things - like ham and cats. Where The Virus That Must Not Be Named (TVTMNBM) is off-limits.

We'll do our best to keep the corona-free zone moderated - you do your best to chill out and gather strength. Flowers Brew

Keep using the normal boards for normal stuff, but here's where to come if you need a break. We're hoping everyone will see the value of having somewhere to get away from it all.

Thanks,
MNHQ

DanglyTasselsOfThigh - I recognised Triangle before I'd clocked your username. Grin How about you get the Thisters to set up a thread on this lovely new board?

We had a tropical fish tank not long after we were first married , DH thought it would be relaxing. But it was in the living room and managing the water changes without getting it on the (new, pale) carpet was quite stressful and then there were the guppies eating their young....
Then we had a small tank of goldfish. We went out to buy an Xmas tree when DD was 2 and somehow instead that's what we got. Confused Cyril lived many years; Frank, followed by Hank and Hank2 inadvertently provided education on 'the circle of life'.

DanglyTasselsOfThigh · 27/03/2020 08:36

Schadenfreude Wow you did so well to care for your goldfish to the ripe old age of 25. You are a very caring fish mother! Grin

I know! Goldfish need far more tank space than people think. Great and heart warming that yours are so well cared for in a large enough tank.

MutteringDarkly · 27/03/2020 08:55

We have platy (an indeterminate number, they are fertile little buggers but also cannibals of the fry). A water change is on my list for them in the morning.

Lovely walk on Monday, the child interested in pooh sticks for the first time ever (before this they were a bit "is that it?" so it just shows the power of being bored the rest of the week Grin).

ErrolTheDragon · 27/03/2020 09:22

Boredom and therefore having to use their imaginations is supposed to be good for kids. DD quite quickly dropped 'I'm bored' after I learned that, and would cheerfully respond 'Good! Now you'll have to think of something to do' or suchlike.

Loving the birds, seeing more and hearing their beautiful songs so much much more

NRW39 · 27/03/2020 09:51

Sitting in the garden having breakfast. Eating a healthy breakfast of avocado on toast, so I don't up end up as big as a house! Ha
I can hear beautiful bird song and the bees flying and buzzing around; it really is something...

An innovative grosery store in Sweden has started selling these because of the anticipated lack of loo roll 🤣 ( notice the loo roll a plenty). They call them ass sticks Shock.

@TSS we had one of those google drives at work. A colleague used to refer to it as they teenagers' bedroom' which was a very apt description

DanglyTasselsOfThigh · 27/03/2020 10:50

Hi Errol, sorry i did not spot you there, we must have cross posted!

Yes ok I shall put out the bat signal to summon the Thisters if they will, there is a Thigh thread in 30 days, someone called for us and, like Mr Benn, we appeared! But this is a lovely area of MN now!

I'll see what I can do anyway!

SnakePlant · 27/03/2020 11:01

That NDN conversation is bloody brilliant mous

I reached a new low in boredom early when I found myself giving the kitchen step stool a good clean with a magic sponge thingy.

I’m going to walk to my friends (3 mile round trip) to collect a bag of Bramleys from her tree that she’s going to leave on her doorstep (The apples, not the tree). I’m putting it off till lunchtime though so I have something to look forward to.

I love all the dog, cat, guinea pig, fish and alpaca pics. I’d never thought that fish might have personalities.

DonRobbo · 27/03/2020 11:01

There are some great alpaca pictures here! Thanks for sharing!

The tail on that cat is AMAZING!

MinnieMountain · 27/03/2020 11:17

@LefttoherownDevizes we want to take DS on a sleeper train but the Paddington-Cornwall one starts too late. Maybe we need to try Venice one with him.

dreamingdream · 27/03/2020 11:46

It's April Fools next week. Easter coming after. Did you know some people paint eggs during Easter? It's cute.

YoTheGinPussyOfStMawesOnThigh · 27/03/2020 12:35

Thanks for this, is a great idea.

Some photos from my one walk of the day for you all.

Wow, those irises are early! Smile

dreamingdream · 27/03/2020 13:16

I really want to get into gardening as my new hobby. I just love all the flowers.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 27/03/2020 14:35

Thank you everyone for your wonderful pet and nature photos.

It's really cheered me up. Smile

Bananabixfloof · 27/03/2020 14:59

Ok theres chickens sheltering, an old old horse (not mine) and some flowers. All virtually outside. Well a few steps away.
Am getting very very bored with life now. As this is the nice thread, I can admit to it and you cant all pile on. 🙋‍♀️

easythere · 27/03/2020 15:03

Our back garden backs onto a nature reserve. The birds I have seen lately are amazing.

Very early this morning, when my youngest woke me up I looked out the window and for the first time since we've lived here I saw a beautiful owl swooping low, obviously looking for something to eat.

I've never seen an owl around here before, it was lovely.

squashyhat · 27/03/2020 15:21

OH and I fired up the chimenea and had a homemade pizza and stargazing evening yesterday. we have a small telescope and saw the nebula in Orion's belt, Venus as a crescent rather than just bright blob and the two stars which make up Polaris (the Pole Star - there's one bright one and one dim one which appear very close together: officially a twin star apparently). Plus some shooting stars, zillions of satellites and the International Space Station twice Smile

Waspnest · 27/03/2020 16:41

My cat is currently socially distancing herself from the local wildlife. Shame she didn't do the same with cars a month ago.

Your grape hyacinths are out Banana - how lovely!

Mine are just peeping through, an a lot seem to have disappeared. Sad

Squashy - That sounds like my type of evening.

Wasp Grin. Poor little soul. (I love a tortie)

RosesandIris · 27/03/2020 17:17

Wow, that stargazing and pizza evening sounds amazing!

banana you live in a lovely place!

Angliski · 27/03/2020 17:29

I give you one 10 week old baby and one cat with a bow tie on!!

Good day today - my cat has a tumour but I’ve been using a hippy remedy and it’s definitely working. Plus my baby stopped screaming and become joyful again for a bit!
