Extremely boring question

So we live in a very small flat with a tiny fridge - never been much of an issue before as I just shop for fresh food every couple of days. Obviously that has changed now and I desperately need more room as this fridge cannot fit an entire weekly shop in it. Am therefore thinking of buying a mini fridge for overflow but the only possible place it could go is in a carpeted room - there are only two non-carpeted rooms in my flat - the kitchen, which does not have space for an additional fridge, and the bathroom, which obviously has no plugs.

I am not fussed about damage to my carpet as it's old anyway but am concerned about the fire risk. Does anyone know if it would be dangerous?

Could you sit it on a bit of wood on the carpet? Or a small table

Put it on a washing machine tray

Extremely boring question

Why would a mini fridge being on a carpet be bad? Surely if it's unsafe, it's unsafe whatever surface it's on? I would just do it.

We have one on a wooden base we made. Mainly just as we didn't want to risk the carpets getting damp though, not sure about the fire implications.

A few duds of wood under the legs/wheels would be a good move to raise it up a little as others have suggested. You may find it’s actually cheaper buying a regular sized under counter fridge than a mini one?

I just assumed that it would be more of a fire risk on a synthetic carpet than a tiled floor?

We had a bad house fire when I was a child so I am really, really paranoid about fire. I don't even leave my washing machine on when I'm out.

Perhaps but I don't think I would have the space quite honestly...

Check the temps on mini fridges- my DS has one in his room and the temp isn't as low as a standard fridge

Oh really? Maybe I should get a normal one.
