Am I the only person whose bum is throbbing this morning thanks to Joe bloody Wicks?

Or are the rest of you gym honed goddess’? Seriously though, my glutes are screaming. And I have to do it again in ten minutes. It’s going to be very painful...

I have been attempting this with my children. We have been enjoying it, and I am very grateful that Joe is providing this free on YouTube.

Due to being old, fat and incredibly unfit I can not do sit up and crunches at all. Does anyone know if there is an exercise I can do to strengthen my tummy muscles enough to be able to attempt them? I just keep straining my neck and having no impact on my stomach muscles. Thank you

FlyingPandas · 25/03/2020 21:05

We had a look at the first video, tried a bit, gave up after five minutes.

Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s great he’s doing this for the nation, all credit to Joe blah blah blah. But I hate organised workouts run by dementedly fit trainer types with a passion and have no particular desire to encourage my children to enjoy them either.

We’ve been in the garden, bouncing on the trampoline and practising cricket instead.

My legs ache SO MUCH after 3 days! And I give up half way through.

I couldn't manage today's (well its after midnight so technically yesterday's) routine. My inner thighs and knees hurt so much after Monday and Tuesday that my legs kept buckling from under me. I'll have a go again tomorrow.

Linnet · 26/03/2020 00:52

My dd, who is an adult, and I did the Monday p.e lesson on Monday night after work. We are both in so much pain, our legs, thighs and bums are killing us and we haven’t managed it since.

We don’t understand why we’re in so much pain though as we go to two keep fit classes a week which involve lots of squats and jumping jacks and mountain climbers and we never have any problems so it’s not as if we’ve never done them before and it’s not been a while since we went either as our classes only stopped last Friday.

Wheresmykey · 26/03/2020 08:48

It’s definitely worth keeping going. After a really bad start my glutes and thighs feel much better today.

I’m hoping for less squats and no Spider-Man, that one nearly killed me!

I didn't get as much out of today's somehow. Not sure if it was The exercises or I've plateaued somehow.

I found him really insufferable today. Felt a bit like oh just get on with it

Reckon his dw is on mn especially when he was talking about the pain people were in.

DD was cute

CaptainMyCaptain · 26/03/2020 19:41

The pain has almost gone away now. I'll persevere.

LargeGinOnTap · 27/03/2020 09:41

Joe Wicks has just caused me carpet burns

Binterested · 27/03/2020 09:42

I think the answer is to watch with the sound down. We play music instead. More fun and less Joe chat Wink

DobbyTheHouseElk · 27/03/2020 10:01

I’ve done 5 days now and I’m not aching anymore. I really like the 9am start. Otherwise who knows how late I’d get up.

I think he is really good. DC love him and that’s the main thing.

Hope his operation goes ok today. He must have really smashed his hand to need some pins.

My legs are throbbing, but I’m happy with that. I needed to do more exercise.

MrsTaytodarling · 27/03/2020 10:51

Ya today wasnt nice Shock

noblegiraffe · 27/03/2020 10:54

Can’t believe he did the workout while not being allowed to drink. Dedication.

We didn’t spot the map. Well played, Joe.

CheriLittlebottom · 27/03/2020 11:00

DD didn't like it but at only 5 it's a bit much for her. Found some gentler stuff instead!

DH and I are going to do them in the evenings. We're both losing weight at the moment anyway but this lockdown is making snacking too tempting, so hoping that doing this each day will help. Started last night, sore today!

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger!

lightyearsahead · 27/03/2020 11:08

I am a day behind as have missed a day due to aches and pains. I am enjoying but having done Thurs I am exhausted; no excuse here, no young kids at home just an unfit husband.
I like Joe and how cute to see his little girl and good on him doing this.

problembottom · 27/03/2020 11:11

I did my first one yesterday and yes I'm aching. First exercise at all since I had DD so not surprised. Really enjoyed it so will be doing more.

My first observation was that Joe was disappointed if the shoutout was anyone in the UK as he is so keen to be a global PE teacher star. Lily and Marta in... oh... Essex, Tom and Joe in... sigh... Manchester... TILLY IN HONG KONG! HELLOOOO TILLY!!!

My second was that he is just not fanciable is he which is weird as he looks vay hot in pics.

Wheresmykey · 30/03/2020 10:32

Ok, so I’ll admit that I was over confident this morning. I did all last week, pushed through the agony that was my bum and thighs Tuesday through Thursday, and felt surprising good on Friday. I thought I had cracked it

And then today. Death by bloody lunges. Tomorrow is going to be ugly again I reckon.

taptonaria27 · 30/03/2020 10:35

I did it for the first time today. Really enjoyed it! My kids are still in bed (teenagers and it's first day of the holidays) but I've left it on the telly in the hope they try it out later Hmm

Stripeyfrog · 30/03/2020 10:39

My (fairly lazy) teen reluctantly joined in on friday and found it easy. She likes jumping lunges (weirdo) and does some similar exercises in dance. Ask her to go for a walk or a run and she would look as if you'd asked her to climb Everest!!

Lordfrontpaw · 30/03/2020 11:01

My neighbour from upstairs nabbed me on the lobby and apologised for all the bouncing every day. Oh, I said - Joe Wicks? Yes - they are doing it!

I did say it was no problem at all and I hadn’t really heard anything and she was being very disciplined for doing it. So maybe she will encourage me to do it too. I think she is going a bit stir crazy and finding it hard to work with her little girl needing entertainment when dad isn’t doing the lion king.

To be honest I work in the bedroom as DH uses the dining table. I was in there today on a conference call and yes it was very loud! Much bouncing and squealing, which was absolutely fine.

Dozer · 30/03/2020 11:05

It’s “DOMS” (delayed onset muscle soreness).

Noodlenosefraggle · 30/03/2020 12:28

The kids and I are finding evil and uncalled for pleasure in him not reaching 1 million live viewers because he kept going on about it in the first couple of days!

Inforthelonghaul · 30/03/2020 12:35

Dd and I are doing this every day though can’t get the older ones to join in. We really like it and it gets us up and moving which is great. The only bit I don’t love is all the shout outs to kids all over the place because DD keeps asking when he’s going to notice her and a) I don’t have a clue how to do that and b) there are 600,000 other people doing it so quite a few to get through.

I hope people carry on with it and it doesn’t tail off as I think it’s really good of him to do it every day.
