Have all ‘non urgent’ Nhs scans and other investigations been indefinitely cancelled ?

I was due to have a ct scan with contrast next Tuesday to get to the bottom of some worrying symptoms I’ve been having for the last 6 months or so. Previous one was terminated due to equipment failure a couple of weeks ago.
Got a phone call yesterday telling me it’s cancelled. Before I get flamed, I understand why - I’m a frontline hcp myself - but just wondered if this was the case everywhere ? Or whether the most urgent cases were still being done ?

My trust was in the process yesterday of suspending all but emergency and life saving procedures. Cancer treatment, dialysis, childbirth or anything else where a patient could come to harm if it doesn't go ahead was being carried on with consultation with patients.

My husband had an urgent endoscopy cancelled last week too. X

Candide66 · 24/03/2020 08:42

Sorry to hear that bookish83. I absolutely get why they’ve been cancelled but it’s so frustrating. Psyched myself up for it and just relieved to hopefully find out what’s causing my symptoms but now more uncertainty...will probably contact my consultants secretary to see what next but suspect all outpatient appointments have been suspended too.

My DS needs a blood test at a specialist clinic and yesterday it was rearranged until mid april.

OrangeBlossom3 · 24/03/2020 09:01

I've still got my ENT appointment going ahead today

NurseMyPurse · 24/03/2020 09:15

I have a gynae appointment that’s still going ahead today

StandardPoodle · 24/03/2020 18:56

DH has a "really urgent" CT scan booked for Friday and is waiting for a call back from the team who booked it as to whether it is going ahead or not.

barberousbarbara · 24/03/2020 19:12

I have a MRI booked for Thursday. It was booked at one hospital for 4pm. They rang and cancelled it then rearranged it for another hospital an hour later. I've had the cancellation messages for the original appointment but nothing for the second, so assume it's going ahead.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 24/03/2020 19:18

I'm the same, barberousbarbara, mine's on 7th April. If it's still on I'll attend but if it's cancelled so be it.

BalloonSlayer · 24/03/2020 19:21

I am supposed to have a mammogram on Friday. I can't imagine it going ahead but don't want to just not turn up.

Ginfilledcats · 24/03/2020 19:22

We've suspended all appointments for 8 weeks. Each doctor is now going through each clinic or test waiting list, reviewing the urgency and then that will determine if they're cancelled, brought in for f2f or telephone clinics.
Doing this for everything for 8 weeks. We'll see then

katseyes7 · 24/03/2020 19:28

My GP referred me to Haematology because l've had some dodgy blood results. l got my letter from the hospital trust yesterday, choice of 4 hospitals. The two nearest me have no appointments, the other two are miles away, so l didn't even look at those.
l left a comment asking them to contact me when they have some free appointments, but l'm not holding my breath.

I had a private neurology appointment next Saturday as the waiting list for NHS is over a year & I need some answers as to why I can't feel my legs, feet & hands a lot quicker than that. It was cancelled indefinitely yesterday, I don't know where to turn next.

JaneEyre7 · 24/03/2020 19:46

DH was due to see a private cardiologist next week after being found to have a heart issue during routine surgery. They've cancelled, and said it will be at least June before they reschedule.

We are literally hoping that he doesn't decline in that time because fuck knows what we will do if he does Sad

Kuponut · 24/03/2020 19:48

Been told 3 months+ for DD2's appointment to be rescheduled.

ChristmasCarcass · 24/03/2020 19:52

JaneEyre7 if he deteriorates, get your GP to refer him on the NHS. We may not be seeing people face to face, but we are doing telephone clinics, virtual reviews and GP advice and guidance. There are contingency plans for unstable patients - the last thing we want is an avoidable admission at this point in time.

Babysharkdoodoodood · 24/03/2020 19:58

I had my dexa scan cancelled and my biopsy/ bladder operation as well. Managed to get my kidney function scan a couple of weeks ago, but the gp isn't letting me know the results as no point, because of cancelled operation.

Brilliant! I know why but in the meantime I have unknown growths in my bladder and a blocked kidney. Really worrying.

Bombaybunty · 24/03/2020 20:10

DS was due to have a colonoscopy next week. It's been cancelled.

DH is supposed to be starting physio in early April, fully expecting it to be cancelled as well.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 24/03/2020 20:11

No HGV medicals until at least May, not even privately. My license expires before that.

TravellingSpoon · 25/03/2020 07:31

Just following on from my above post, DS's blood test has been cancelled indefinitely as have all paediatric phlebotomy appointments according to the text message I got yesterday afternoon.

Asmoto · 25/03/2020 07:35

My husband was phoned yesterday about an ultrasound which is going ahead but at a GP practice rather than a hospital.

WeAllHaveWings · 25/03/2020 07:44

I know someone whose routine haematology appointment has been cancelled. they have a very slow progressing lymphoma for the last 3 years.

another has been called to say their Roaccutane treatment for severe acne is being stopped (they only started 1 month ago after taking antibiotics for 2 years before they would prescribe)

Both understandable in the current circumstances.

Gilead · 25/03/2020 08:30

I’m high risk, clinics being run by phone and email.
