Best tablet for technophobe dad?

I’d like to order a tablet and either a connection package or a dongle (he has no internet) for my dad. All he will do (if I can even get him to do that) is facetime or zoom us and my sister and maybe look at a newspaper app or two.

He has never ever used the internet himself (only 73!!!! Yes I know how is it possible) so what would be the easiest thing to order for him bearing in mind we are all strictly social isolating.

It could come to us and we set it all up, and leave it on his doorstep (husband will have to leave some medication / food there as dad is extremely vulnerable after illness - we are in remote area.)

Any suggestions? Fire tablet? iPad? All help welcomed.

it's not a tablet, but i think the KOMP would work. it only has an on/off button, since it is controlled entirely from your end via an app. you can video call your dad and it will ring through as long as the KOMP is plugged in. it does require wifi, and as far as im aware there is a really low stock (so you might need to order soon if you do decide to go for it). this mobile wifi would work, you need a sim card to put into it. voxi seem to be quite good at providing lots of data for things like these into a sim card.

all the best

and you would be able to set it up remotely too, so he would have to just plug it in

We bought my DM a Kindle Fire and an EE device which gives her 4G access. She seems to be managing to Skype on it and if this goes on for ages I also have loads of books on it which she can read.
