Dog biscuits, essential?

Bananasandchocolatecustard · 23/03/2020 21:46

Pets at Home are reserving a bag of mixer biscuits for my fussy dog, I’m due to collect them tomorrow.
I think this essential shopping (so does my dog).
Any opinions?

You have as much of a responsibility to feed your furry family as your human family - dog biscuits are an essential in my opinion.

Wolfiefan · 23/03/2020 21:56

I need to feed my animals.
How can you limit risk? Pay over the phone? Have staff put food in the boot? Pay by card?

TWD89 · 23/03/2020 21:58

Yes. Essential.

essential!

EstherLittle · 23/03/2020 22:40

Essential. The bag will last a while so it’s not like you’ll be popping to pets at home everyday.

Yes. Pet shops are staying open. As are vets.

I always bulk buy pet food - treats included. Imagine running out!! It was the first thing we thought of...I'd prefer to go hungry over the dog, we all would - he just wouldn't understand - those eyes would bore straight through us so hard, hunger would just be easier to bear. (Short term at least)

I am beaming with love for you all! I've just been deleting thread after bullying thread and came across this and was so heartened. Give your pooch a scritch from all of us.

elshajd · 24/03/2020 08:02

I have to do this, I called the store yesterday and paid for pet food over the phone and agreed a time to go this morning, I will phone them when I arrive and they will put the food outside for me. It helps that I've been a customer for years and know them well but I hope any store would do this

happystory · 24/03/2020 08:03

Our pets are going to mean even more to us now

isseywith4vampirecats · 24/03/2020 08:59

I have four cats and the only food I have bought more than I normally would is for them I cant get cat biscuits as people are probably thinking biscuits go further than pouches but if it comes to it I will give them double on pouches instead of pouch and biscuits I haven't stocked to the stage where I have 3 months food for them more like one month

Bananasandchocolatecustard · 24/03/2020 15:32

Went to Pets at Home to get the biscuits, own brand ones hadn’t arrived, so now he has a 14 kg bag to eat!
Definitely won’t need to return there for a while, he is a Yorkie x.

I’m shocked by this thread: of course dog biscuits aren’t essential, if by biscuits you mean treats, rather than actual food.

Dog food is a necessity but not treats. That’s a non-essential trip to go and collect them!
I’ve given my dog a little peanut butter sandwich here and there as a treat. In the absence of that (and the PB is running out) he’ll manage fine.

Can’t believe how reckless and selfish some people are being; how dismissive of the govt. guidelines.

Newsflash: PEOPLE ARE DYING!

Bananasandchocolatecustard · 24/03/2020 18:46

They are mixer biscuits not treats. I’m not stupid, my dog needs to eat.

A yorkie with 14kg? @Bananasandchocolatecustard Grin

Xiaoxiong · 24/03/2020 19:28

TheFreaks I think the OP meant biscuits as in dry food/kibble, not treats, given that she said they come in a 14kg bag which would be treats for life for a yorkie Grin

Bananasandchocolatecustard · 24/03/2020 20:12

The biscuits will certainly last him a long time. Thought it was better to buy a big bag rather than make extra trips waiting for a smaller bag.
