SinkGirl · 22/03/2020 21:39

Just started watching this tonight - the second episode is perhaps the craziest documentary episode I’ve ever seen.

Is anyone else watching?

I'm only 3 episodes in and then she wanted to go up to bedAngry Shall I LTB?

It's so good,isn't it? They're all nasty,weird predators and I don't mean the animals!!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 24/03/2020 23:10

DuesToTheDirt · 24/03/2020 23:11

so true

YourVagesty · 24/03/2020 23:16

Froq I can't abide animal cruelty and I found it an easy watch on that front. In many ways, the tigers take a back seat to the main action, and they actively seem to like their owners (cuddling and playing with them etc).

But, as with all zoo and sanctuary creatures, they are in enclosures so that might upset you? No tiny cages though and no tortured or pacing behaviours. But one park is run by rednecks so it's all a bit 'on a shoestring'. There is also a rumour that one of them was euthanising his own animals (by shooting them) rather than following correct procedures but you don't see that. Hope some of that info helps you to decide.

BlackCatsRule88 · 24/03/2020 23:20

Perhaps we could start a thread with spoilers? Or amend the title of this one to say containers spoilers?

Upstartcrones · 24/03/2020 23:48

Do you think she did it? don't want to give it away for those who haven't got there.

There were some seriously damaged and dodgy individuals in that situation!

Froq · 25/03/2020 00:03

Thank you @YourVagesty, that’s really helpful.

I might give it a go but have the fast forward button at the ready just in case.

LennyPugGoat · 25/03/2020 00:07

Binge watched it and sometimes put it back in just as a distraction from work Covid-19

It's the most bat shit crazy documentary I’ve seen

sestras · 25/03/2020 00:09

This is the strangest thing I've watched on Netflix so far.

TerribleCustomerCervix · 25/03/2020 00:23

DH and I watched it across two evenings.

Usually we’re half watching the tv and otherwise on our phones or chatting, but we were both glued to this.

Every time you think it can’t get any more mental there’s another revelation mentioned casually causing you to shout WHAT at the telly.

KilljoysDutch · 25/03/2020 00:24

I've just finished this and it's been really really weird but I'm just leaving it with a sense of sadness to be honest, I don't know why but the last 20 minutes or so just really got to me.

speakfriendandenter · 25/03/2020 00:26

It's now on my watch list! Thank you! It looks batshit crazy 🐅

TerribleCustomerCervix · 25/03/2020 00:28

I'm just leaving it with a sense of sadness to be honest

Is that because everyone apart from the woman who lost her arm, the guy with no legs and the ex keeper with long blond hair are legitimately psychopaths?

FixItUpChappie · 25/03/2020 02:04

It also is so disturbing - everything that's wrong with America in terms of their cowboy fascination and normalizing of guns and everything that's wrong in lots of countries around the lack of animal protection.

I cannot believe governments just allow whomever to own dangerous animals and to treat them so badly to boot. Wildly riveting like watching a slow train crash but also very wrong

SinkGirl · 25/03/2020 02:13

Not see the show, but anyone who thinks it's funny or entertaining should try reading this..

You have the wrong end of the stick. What’s funny / entertaining about it has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the big cats, it’s the people and their behaviour / actions (completely other than the animals). I don’t want to spoil anything, but they are completely and utterly mad. Of course the keeping of the animals is absolutely tragic, but that’s really not the focus.

To PP who asked if it was upsetting regarding the animals, I’ve still got two episodes to go but so far I haven’t seen any overt animal abuse - obviously it’s abuse to keep them in the first place and some of the footage is upsetting for that reason.

If anyone wants to start a spoiler thread and link it here go for it, or I’ll start one tomorrow after I’ve finished.

Let’s not post any spoilers here - it’s so twisty I don’t want to ruin it for anyone!

PawPawNoodle · 25/03/2020 02:23

Mr Noodle very fucking rudely watched the last episode of this while I was at work today. I've already left him, don't worry.

It's an absolutely fascinating miniseries, feels otherworldly (much like the current reality does at the moment!)

JuanSheetIsPlenty · 25/03/2020 03:47

I’ve just finished this show after reading the first few posts on this thread.

Shock

I got to the funeral speech and thought “this has to be fake. All these people are actors” but it isnt! Shock

The music videos! Grin

I also finished with a feeling of deep sadness for all those animals. Those poor creatures being kept like that. It shouldn’t be allowed.

SinkGirl · 25/03/2020 07:54

I was about to say LTB so I’m glad you’ve already actioned that 😂

OP posts:
YourVagesty · 25/03/2020 08:47

Upstart yes! I definitely think that, as does DH. The will is for me, the decider.

SinkGirl · 25/03/2020 18:01

Just bumping for anyone looking for something distracting to watch tonight!

OP posts:
36degrees · 25/03/2020 18:43

It's like every 'Florida man' news story rolled into one. I've said what the fuck so many times that it doesn't sound like real words any more.

Stroller15 · 25/03/2020 18:51

I am also usually distracted when watching Netflix but this totally gripped me. Such a bunch of weirdos, and so many twists and turns - I loved it. Tried to explain the premise to DH but could'nt. And yes, the lady did it. And yes I was rooting for JE until the funeral.
