Weight gain

Is anybody else terrified they'll become obese after we're let out of the house? I live in a flat so no stairs, and am classed as vulnerable in age and underlying health. I'm so bored I'm doing nothing but eating. Baking cakes and just generally drinking tea and scoffing. What are you doing to help this not happening. 12 weeks they'll have to cut me out of the flat! I know it's a matter of willpower but right now I have none. Confused

I'm a comfort eater so I've been eating a lot more this week ☹️

Noodlenosefraggle · 22/03/2020 18:26

Yes me. The snacking, The wine, it's going to be carnage!

peachypetite · 22/03/2020 18:44

Yep. I do 10,000 steps a day usually including the commute to and from work. Now WFH.

ILiveInSalemsLot · 22/03/2020 18:54

I’m so worried about this too.
So, I have a plan of getting up at 7.30 and doing an exercise session. Something online for under 30 minutes.
Fasting until 12 so only coffee and water til then.
Then lunch with the kids, maybe tea and snack later and dinner before 7.
A walk after dinner.

feelingverylazytoday · 22/03/2020 19:13

No. I'm rationing my food so I don't have to go the shops so often. Also doing some exercises indoors, and going for walks as long as we're allowed.

MrsDoylesTeaBags · 22/03/2020 19:15

I did so well through January, February and early March. Got down a clothes size and got rid of my belly. Then had a cold (not CV) so stayed away from the gym for a week and now I've completely lost my motivation, gone out for a few walks but nothing more and been comfort eating and drinking all this week. This week I've just felt so despondent its horrible isn't it.

I'll try to get back on it tomorrow.

Asterisktheknackered · 22/03/2020 19:18

Yes totally, my
Mindset regarding food is great when I'm excecising but goes to shit when I'm not!! Trying to do online stuff but just not the same.

Takemebackto · 22/03/2020 19:26

yes I think it’s the combination of stress and boredom.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 22/03/2020 19:28

I’m worried about this as well. No exercise, bigger meals and I’m drinking too much!!

BigSandyBalls2015 · 22/03/2020 19:29

I usually walk miles when I’m in the office but now wfh

TatteredOwl · 22/03/2020 19:29

Luckily I'm almost five weeks into a diet and have lost a stone so it seems a shame to stop now. I also have a peloton bike which I've neglected recently so I'm gearing myself up to restart that tomorrow

user764329056 · 22/03/2020 19:30

Yes definitely, had just got into routine of gym 3 times a week and loved it, not sure how I can do online exercise videos as only have a phone, no laptop or ipad

Dzundza · 22/03/2020 20:17

I watch exercise videos. I hope to keep it up several hours per week. I'm also ordering one of those step-aerobics step.

Reeto · 22/03/2020 21:18

Same here, I'm WFH from tomorrow. I am a comfort eater and I haven't stopped eating for the past week, I'm currently sitting here feeling sick after eating yet more chocolate. I already feel half a stone heavier, jeans tight, bloated....from tomorrow morning I plan to wake up earlier and do a decent work out (30 day shred I think) and maybe a short walk round the estate at lunch time with my 8 year old (being very conscious of social distancing of course!).
Lucy Wyndham Reed on YouTube is fab for short workouts or indoor walking workouts!

ILiveInSalemsLot · 23/03/2020 13:20

I did a workout session so tick.
I waited til midday to eat so, another tick.
I ate 2 slices of toast so a big cross there.
Now I just feel like snacking.
This is going to be hard!

BestestBrownies · 23/03/2020 13:37

I’m 4 weeks into a new diet/exercise regime (and 9lb down), so am feeling very determined to stick with it. It’s hard, but DP and I are rationing our food so we shop as infrequently as possible.

I have found logging everything (and making sure to weigh it), on MyFitnessPal works best for me

Hoohaahoo · 23/03/2020 13:39

Well if you put on weight you put on weight, it’s not the end of the world.
Try and be sensible with snacking, move where you can, but most of all be nice to yourself.

Stillinbedat10am · 23/03/2020 13:49

This is definitely going to be an issue for me. I've gone from doing 12,000 steps a day to bring lucky if I hit 1500. Husband is high risk so we are literally confined to one room of the flat each to avoid each other so there isn't much space to move around.

I'm toying with flipping my 5:2 diet so that I fast for 5 days and eat full meals for the other 2. My calorie requirements must be so low at the moment that I don't see it being an issue.
