Where can I buy a nice jigsaw?

Amazon only seems to have weird German castles and jigsaw.co.uk says it's shut because of you know what.

Anyone got any ideas? I want a nice 500-1000 piece photograph ideally of nice British scene eg Whitby harbour or something to see me through...

They sell nice ones in The Works. Or try Bits and Pieces online. I get most of mine from eBay and charity shops.

ShadyAcromat · 22/03/2020 16:20

Ebay - although there's a shocking amount of bidding wars on the good quality ones like Ravensbuger and Gibson.

CheriLittlebottom · 22/03/2020 16:21

Are you still going out? Charity shops usually have loads. If you can manage to get to one without getting within 2m of other people!

I got 2 for mothers day. One was bought in a local stationers/newsagent type shop and one was bought in Waterstones. I bought one for my DM in Hobbycraft.

Wentworth jigsaws are lovely although a bit pricey

grafittiartist · 22/03/2020 16:29

My neighbour and I have just done a jigsaw swap leaving them in the porch for pick up :)

FrenchBoule · 22/03/2020 16:40

Look up house of puzzles. Unique shapes and good quality

lakeswimmer · 22/03/2020 16:48

This place is near where I live but they sell online and have an absolutely amazing range. I'm thinking of getting one myself in case there's a lockdown! www.jigsawsuk.co.uk/

Thanks all! Am trying not to go out now (London, it's rife) so will follow all these online suggestions. Thank you! xx

I normally get mine from charity shops, the works is good, but bewareof corner piece. Theyare poor quality. Falcon is better

Smidge001 · 22/03/2020 17:27

These jigsaws are expensive, but so well made. They are wooden rather than cardboard, and have really different shapes which makes it far more of a challenge than standard jigsaws. The corner pieces for example are often diagonally cut so you don't see a right-angle, but need 2 diff pieces together to result in the corner. They also have pieces shaped like other things (just bought one with a gardening theme and there are rabbit shaped pieces, wheelbarrows, a fork, spade, flower etc!).

Really lovely. You can also upload a photo to have a personalised one too. I just bought one for my parents in isolation to keep them busy and it only took 3 days to arrive despite the suggestion it would be 10days. (but I will say again, they're expensive!)

Barney's Newsbox in Grasmere do online sales I think. Don't know their website but their phone No is 01539435627.

Impatientwino · 22/03/2020 18:38

Gibson jigsaws are really nice and well made. The pieces hold together much better than others. They are available via amazon and are usually about £13.00.

On the off chance you're in Hertfordshire let me know as I have a few in my charity shop pile you're welcome to!

Impatientwino · 22/03/2020 18:38

Sorry just saw you're in London

lakeswimmer · 22/03/2020 18:40

Barneys in Grasmere is the one I mentioned upthread - great range of jigsaws.

birdseeder · 22/03/2020 18:45

jigsawsuk.co.uk is the website for Barneys Newsbox in Grasmere. (Sorry don’t know how to do clicky links) They have all brands of jigsaws including some I’ve not seen anywhere else. If (after all this is over) you get the chance to visit the shop it’s definitely worth it!

LivingDeadGirlUK · 22/03/2020 18:49

Should say my partner does work for the above. We joked no one would panic buy greetings cards, but turns out jigsaws are another matter!

Nononononono33 · 22/03/2020 18:49

I’ve ordered from the Yorkshire Jigsaw company (just Google) in the past week and my order has been dispatched for delivery tomorrow! Excellent service, lots of choice of brands.
