Yoga or Pilates online please?

We're both working from home for the foreseeable. I'd just started going to the gym and was quite enjoying being active for the first time in years! I'm actually going to miss it!

Never done yoga or Pilates but think it'd do us (me, do and ds who is 8) good to do something every morning.

I'd love suggestions please for something we can follow online - suitable for us all to start together!

Adriene on YouTube. She does a yoga workout for everyone.

Anyother reccomendation for Yoga with Adriene on Youtube. Also for your DS Cosmic Kids Yoga and The Body Coach will be doing PE lessons at 9am on his Youtube channel Mon-Fri.

Down Dog yoga - they have a beginners app and an excellent general yoga app that has many types of yoga, and you can customise duration, skill level, focus etc. And because of Coronavirus their apps are all free at the moment.

Down Dog app - full access completely free for the foreseeable. In fact the creators have made all their apps free - there's one for Barre, HITT, 7mins and Yoga for Beginners.
The original Down Dog is a fantastic app, I thoroughly recommend.

Adrienne is great. I'd also highly recommend @hmfyoga (on YouTube and Instagram etc). Young British woman who does online videos suitable for beginners. She has been releasing a new one every day this year - all only 10-30 mins long so really achievable to do at home with kids etc. Some of them are also tutorials on specific yoga basic poses - like how to do downward dog properly. I really rate her videos

Another one for Yoga with Adrienne.

DD follows Dianne Buswell (from Strictly) on Instagram and apparently she's starting Pilates online for kids/teens.

Brilliant - thanks so much everyone! Trying to take this an an opportunity to learn new things. I don't even know the difference between yoga and pilates!

This is a list of self employed teachers who will be doing classes. It's not free but is an opportunity to support people who would otherwise have lost their incomes.

Davina has made all her workouts available free of charge for 30 days. Just sign up with name and email. There are Pilates and yoga classes on there.

Having done both yoga and Pilates, yoga is easier to 'do along with' a video. For an absolute beginner at Pilates I think you need an instructor. It's also very small movements which might not engage a DC quite as well. So yeah - another vote for Adrienne, my friend's DC does cosmic yoga and loves it, I've also just signed up for the free Davina app.

I use Blogilates. I do pilates due to dodgy joints, was advised yoga not good for them

MiniMum97 · 22/03/2020 11:40

Hi I use Yogaia. Here's a free 1 month guest pass...

Hey! I've been using the Yogaia app and think you'd love their yoga, mindfulness and fitness classes. Here's a free one-month Guest Pass if you want to check it out: yogaia.com/get/GUESTPASS
