No wine?? For the love of God!!

Just been to Tesco's, and the wine isle is bare....Except for chardonnay...Ugh(first world problems). As a very good friend said, 'shit just got real '.

😭😭 why..just why....Life couldn’t get any worse right now!

DH is ok he brews his own beer/cider and has got kegs of the stuff in his man shed.

I drink wine, champagne and spirits

Gin & vodka was getting low when I was in the supermarket Thursday so grabbed a bottle of each.
Wine was ok stocked so only got 2 cava, 2 white...I’ve now got 2 bottles of wine left

And as for Chardonnay is only acceptable if they announce the sky will fall and we are all going to die the next day

Requested Malbec - My partner came back with that Californian crap so will use it cooking. I managed to score a few bottles of Prosecco though

Top tip! Phone your local pub. They might be selling off stock

The manager of my local Tesco is a behemoth of a woman.

I've noticed it before where she has dealt solely with aggressive drunks and thugs who have in the past threatened staff and tried to bottle them etc.

Now? She is fantastic - she's been limiting everyone on everything. 3pm today there was still flour and toilet paper, bananas and for me tonic water and beer.

I think she's in her 50s and is about 5ft YSL but damn she is listened to. She'd have been amazing in the war.

Call round pubs and bars / find them on Facebook. Lots in my town are looking for ways to make money, while they are closed.

Try a local wine bar that has shut - one near us was doing deliveries of wine packs.

I asked OH to stock up on wine last week in case this happened... 2 bottles he came home with! That's just a regular a Friday night in this house 🙄

We now have slightly more but it won't last long after a week of WFH and the kids studying from home 😩

And yes, local bars/breweries to the rescue.

OH has just ordered a cask of ale (72 pints) to be delivered to his work next week. So I guess he's sorted...

Bought 2 cases of red last week - had a feeling in my water

Had about 8 bottles in already and a couple of lagers, half a bottle of gin and a drop of vodka

We live literally around the corner from an off licence. If that closes I won't be happy though.

I had to create an account for delivery. Naked Wines had suspended deliveries when I checked, but Laithwaites and Virgin were still selling. And Amazon still have spirits.

My dp does various home-brews. We have a cranberry wine that will be ready soon. In the interim I still have a year's supply of gin from Christmas and ginger ale works really nicely with it 😁

I always think of the wine section, as my private island of fun......

Both Aldi and Asda in my patch had ample wine/beer/spirits in stock this morning, and we weren't out madly early either. No Fever Tree though, will have to keep an eye on that. I have enough for 2 weeks (only drink a little at weekends) but I'm fussy about tonic.

Dp has always maintained an extensive selection. Dc and I have always cheerfully taken the piss, and both dc have wound him up over the years, hiding bottles and pretending they took them to parties/ uni etc.

He is now feeling exceedingly smug and we're never going to hear the last about it.

We've enough spirits to satisfy the Royal Navy. Plus mixers. Wine we have about 38 bottles of, plus rose which is an ”in an emergency” wine we've been given and some dessert wine. Beer we have about 20 cans. OH has hidden them randomly around the house so if we get looted they're not obvious. 😳 I truly hope it doesn't get to that.

I can imagine there will be some home brewing going on.

Genuinely a bit twitchy about wine shortages. Teen dd rolled eyes and said "nobody NEEDS wine". Shall remind her of that when she is a mother of one!

I'm well stocked up in preparation but only now I'm isolating and on antibiotics 😭. Sad times.
