I know there’s more serious problems than mine but I have just realised I have no contact lense solution left and I stupidly broke my glasses mon tv a ago and didn’t get round to getting them replaced.

I have very bad vision without lenses!! Like I can’t see further than my nose 🤓

Is specsavers closed now? I wonder how I could get the solution I use.
Damn this is what you get for never being prepared and leaving things last minute.

Shops are not closed.

plunkplunkfizz · 20/03/2020 18:50

You can buy lens solution all over the place. Can you not buy it somewhere else?

FlamingoAndJohn · 20/03/2020 18:51

You can buy solutions online. Try Vision Direct.

No but they are open although may be open different hours. Check the website for current opening times.

ItchyScratch · 20/03/2020 18:52

I’m not sure which lense Solution I would buy.
The specsavers ones are all different but rather than have titles I just ask for ‘the one with the dolphin on the front’

So shops are all open tomorrow?

Amazon also has some solutions on prime.

plunkplunkfizz · 20/03/2020 18:55

Unless you have some special requirements it’s just regular lens solution but branded. Just do a bit of Googling and figure out what is a suitable substitute.

MrsPnut · 20/03/2020 18:56

What sort of lenses do you have? I just buy Bausch & lomb renu solution from Boots or Superdrug. I tend to buy the small bottles because I have extended wear lenses.

Harp1977 · 20/03/2020 18:57

Ring and check tomorrow as the shops in Irl are closed but independent have emergency appts for repairs and emergency eye exams but not open for normal eye tests or lens ordering

ItchyScratch · 20/03/2020 18:58

Specsavers do a few different types you see. (Dolphin, goldfish, turtle) etc.
I don’t know what each version is actually called or what types for me to then google and buy the right version for my contact lenses.

Yes I am useless.

But thanks for your replies. At least I know e shops are open tomorrow. I had thought everywhere was on lockdown now.

I’m not sure which lense Solution I would buy.

There are only two basic solutions for soft contact lenses. Multi purpose and peroxide.
If you have to rub your lenses you use multi purpose, if you have a disc in the bottom of the case then it’s peroxide. Most people have multi purpose.

jomaIone · 20/03/2020 19:02

Surely you can read the bottle with the bloody dolphin on the front and see what it says and buy one online the same? It must have a brand.

MrsKipling16 · 20/03/2020 19:26

ItchyScratch where in the country roughly are you based - NESW? I have a few spare bottles of this solution and would gladly leave you one in my porch (to maintain social distancing) to pick up if you’re local to me - I wouldn’t want payment for it.

Starisnotanumber · 20/03/2020 19:29

Can you get to a supermarket in ours it's just on the shelf with aspirin and vitamin type things.
If you take the empty bottle should be able to check the contents are the same.

MrsKipling16 · 20/03/2020 19:31

Flamingo the Specsavers “dolphin one” is the equivalent of preservative free, so whilst into falls into one of the two categories (multiple-purpose), the OP might struggle with the “turtle one” that also falls into the same category - it took me a while to find a solution I could tolerate.

lastonetime · 20/03/2020 19:40

Ring them tomorrow, I only do occasional work at the specsavers near me but they are open tomorrow as normal for now. You can buy over the counter there

lastonetime · 20/03/2020 19:40

Or pay a little for postage and they can send some out ?

ShrimpSymphony · 20/03/2020 19:40

I just had an eye test this afternoon in Specsavers in ROI

FlamingoAndJohn · 20/03/2020 19:44

This should be the same. www.visiondirect.co.uk/everclear-flat-pack-multi-purpose-solution-3-pack

ItchyScratch · 20/03/2020 21:00

Thank you very much for all your help.
As always you’ve been great.
