Can you talk me through online banking

Several years ago - a large sum of money was taken out of my Barclays account - said via an online banking scam - we did not have it. To be fair Barclays were very good - said it happened a lot over that weekend. They repaid all the money and sent flowers but it has always put me off.

At the moment I am self isolating due to health issues from my cancer- I live alone now. Before my isolTion I went to the local bank and transferred some money to my son. I want to do this for my other child and also cancel a direct debit.

How easy is it to set up online - do I need to go into the bank to do it- I am not very technical at all. I would rather have access to it on my iPad rather than on my phone.

And most of all is it safe.

Thank you .

It's easy to do online. No need to go to a branch. I use Nationwide, which is fab. I use the banking ago but also use it on my iPad. If you know someone with a Nationwide account you can enter their email address and they will credit both them and you with a £100 bonus.

PS I think it's completely safe, as long as you don't give out banking details to unknown people

Your bank will have advice on their website about not falling for scams and will force you to read it and tick a box to confirm you understand it and haven't done any of the things on the list every single time you transfer any money to a new payee.
