Any quick advice for an iPad novice?

I’m buying an iPad for my mum and would be really grateful for advice on how to set it up quickly and whether there are any must-have accessories.

We don’t have one at home so I’m a bit at sea and need to sort it quickly.

She’s in a hospice for palliative care (dying of cancer) and visiting is restricted Now to one visitor per day, so she’s absolutely lonely and miserable.

I thought an iPad would help with FaceTime and I can also get netflix etc set up for her. So not looking to do anything fancy.

Thanks so much!

(Hoping to buy it online today)

I love mine and am really bad with technology so am sure you will be fine, I think it leads you through set up process and it’s pretty quick.
I don’t think you need any extras as I don’t although maybe a little adapter think to change headphone jack if using regular headphones.

I'm really sorry to hear about your mum. I have an iPad mini 4 and with it being smaller than a regular one it's much easier to hold, and the weight is good. Probably get a case with it that doubles as a stand so that you can prop it up for FaceTime or Netflix on a nightstand. Hope that helps a little Thanks

Thanks a million. Yes, I think I’ll get a stand/case that stands up so she can watch things more easily.

You will have to set up messenger to face time, but that not difficult. Ditto with Netflix. Go to the App Store to download the app, then log in and set up her user. Sorry you can't be closer to her at this time, must be dreadful x
