hi all,

I'm new to all this and not 100 percent sure how it works! I applied for council housing and was accepted onto the list a few days ago. there is me and my partner and we live in a tiny annexe.
I don't think there would be any space for our bed and her proper cot when she is too big for her next 2 me crib.
we are in band c - it is also incredibly rural where we live, no access to public transport as there is no pavements anywhere so struggle to take my baby to appointments etc. will this count in our favour in any way?
and realistically, on band c, do we have any hope of getting anywhere?
I can imagine it will take years
thanks!

Hard to say without knowing where you are in the country, I’m sw and been on list for 11yrs for a 3 bed and not really got anywhere yet. We are however always in the top 10 bidding for homes, sometimes 2nd/3rd, we are silver band (emergency, gold, silver then bronze).
Hoping this year will be our year but gutted this corona situation will prob mean they will stop listing houses soon for however long...

I'm on the south coast, been offered 2 bedroom properties. you bid on 3 from a list that goes out every 2 weeks. wow 11 years!! I dont think we would be able to wait that long, genuinely wouldn't have the space

I guess only other option is to try and save as much as possible although not sure that would work in the long run. child care is so expensive much more than I thought so not sure if I'll be able to go back to work. looking like I would loose majority of my wage to childcare costs which seems pointless. rent round here privately is hovering around the 1000 mark.
ah maybe I'll win the lottery lol

I know, it’s dire, 6 in a two bed. Lounge is also a bedroom for us

So your already being offered a two bed? Or invited to bid on a two bed?
