Has anyone ever experienced this?

I'm on the IUD coil an have been for 3months.
I have missed my period. Can I be pregnant ?

Has anyone ever fallen pregnant on the IUD? Advice needed please

Take a test. It is possible.

I regularly go months without my period on the mirena. Do you have a copper coil? I think that hormonal IUDs regularly reduce periods to barely a thing. Though definitely test as a PP said it is possible for sure

Yes I am going to do a test later on this evening.

I am currently on the copper coil. So since Iv had it in I had heavy periods each month for Atleast 5 days. Just missed a period an had spotting a few weeks ago so slightly worried 😩😩

My periods basically stopped after 4 months on the coil.

Do you have the hormonal one they were very clear in explaining to me that periods could stop/reduce after a few months

Louisana · 19/03/2020 14:37

@Curiousmum69 hey I don't have the hormonal one. Iv got the copper coil which is the non hormonal coil. Could it be that my periods have just stopped ?

The copper one won't stop periods, and if you are pregnant you really really need to get checked out for the risk of ectopic. So take a test.
It could also just be a random occurrence though.

Louisana · 19/03/2020 14:44

@AGoodDay I know that's what's I'm really worried about the ectopic pregnancy. Will be doing a test later this evening. I spotting at the start of the month which I thought was my period but wasn't as while Iv been on the coil I have had very very heavy periods whereas at the start of the month just slight bleeding, well barely a bleed.

I’ve fallen pregnant with a copper IUD. Definitely possible.

Louisana · 20/03/2020 14:13

@Antipodeancousin how long did u have the IUD in for when you fell pregnant ?

Sorry just Saw your message now - over two years. I had a Pap smear and string check then six weeks later I was pregnant. I couldn’t feel any difference after the smear but scans showed it had moved down and slightly into my cervix which would have made it less effective.
I believe IUD failures usually occur soon after insertion as the uterus tries to expel them and they become displaced.
