Does anyone know the safest way to pay an electrician for an upcoming electrical safety test?

Hi all,
I have booked an electrical safety test (with the end outcome to be a report) at a prospective home I'm looking to potentially buy. I phoned the electrician's number from a NICEIC database. My question is what would be the safest way of paying him for it?

With trusted online services such as amazon and where there is a physical shop I usually feel much safer paying. For this, I'm worried if I pay him, he may just take the money and not turn up, etc.

What's the best and standard way of dealing for such transactions?

Can I pay him after inspection i.e. prior to report? & What's the best method of payment where I can get the money back if I need to, etc.

all workmen invoice for bank transfer after the work is done here

We accept bank transfer after the service provided. Invoice emailed.

I've done this with a few services I've had too.

People seem happy to do this. It's also better than you cancelling

Bank transfer on completion.
