It’s all all so uncertain.

I’ve been given the chance to wfh as the business will close the office on Friday. Now this.

I’ve asked what it means as the position last week was “unpaid or annual leave”

I, as well as millions of others, am so unclear what is going to happen now.

My boss said that we are set to wfh from Monday but as to how long that will be for, “your guess is as good as mine“

It’s just sinking in now how shitty this situation is as we are fucked if I have to take unpaid.

My anxiety is through the roof and I can’t switch off.

I cried tonight. I don’t know what to do

I presume you have DC that are now going to be off school. Is that what's 'the final straw'?
Are there others at work who are in a similar situation?

So sorry. It is going to be tough for the next month or so.

Financially, do you have a mortgage as you should be able to get a payment break for 3 months. If you rent then talk to the landlord- no-one is going to be able to get new tenants at the moment so you should be able to negotiate, especially as the landlord can apply for a mortgage payment break.

For the anxiety I find prayer helpful. Wishing you all the best, it’s ok to cry and worry but don’t let it consume you. Money is important but your life and health are more so. Take care of yourself.

@Gazelda Yes. There are at least 4 or 5 others who’s children will now be off. But there is only me who does my job whereas they are all in the same department/roles

@peajotter

Yes we are mortgaged. And we can go down that route if we need to. It’s just all so uncertain.

I can’t see why I can’t wfh if my son is there. But the cynic in new days they will try whatever they can to get out of paying people as the business will no doubt suffer a downturn too.

I’m not particularly religious but prayer is calming.

Can you take an hours A/L a day and wfh from 19.00pm-11pm or something?

And an hour before the DC get up?

Gazelda · 18/03/2020 22:08

Can you work flexibly? ie fit in your hours as and when you can get the DC distracted or cared for by their other parent?
