Oh my gosh these are so cute! I've got a viola and a chili pepper so far apparently. Anyone else collecting/bothering to grow theirs?

carrot seeds here. I got so excited when I oppened up the packet and saw what it was!

resipsa · 18/03/2020 19:08

Our parsley and cress have sprouted. Got a few more to plant. Need any ideas I can get to entertain my two until 'further notice'.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 18/03/2020 19:19

Can't wait to do ours. My DM has collected a range for DDs (and sent them onto me already, as I can't see her for a while)

I have pansy and basil. Love them. Planting them yesterday was my treat once I'd done my conference calls and housework. So much better in every way than that awful plastic Little Shop planet-destroying tat.

Boogiewoogietoo · 18/03/2020 19:21

We’ve got beetroot, pansy, cress, chilli and viola. Cress already sprouting, and beetroot appeared this morning to much excitement. Such a great idea.

AlexaAmbidextra · 18/03/2020 19:29

Cute aren’t they. I have three but I’m giving them to my friend for her grandsons.

@Aroundtheworldin80moves

Make sure she watches when you add the water! I turned away after pouring 50ml onto the little compacted soil circle, turned around again and it had grown into a column! It would have been cool to watch that. I'm jealous of anyone who has the carrot ones. I used to get carrot seeds from the Easter Bunny when I was little, and planted them with my dad in the veggie patch. Good times!

Chilli peppers here but after over a week nothing...no sprouting at all and watered!!!

Frownette · 18/03/2020 21:36

That sounds really cool, do you buy them in store?

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 18/03/2020 21:42

Free when you spend £20 on food in store.

Frownette · 18/03/2020 21:43

Brilliant, thanks

Bigoldwimp · 03/04/2020 17:33

Am I a complete gardening failure? Has anyone grown a shoot yet?

Sparklyring · 03/04/2020 17:39

Our chilli & peppers arent sprouting yet but both pansies and basil are :-D

GoldenFlaps · 03/04/2020 17:43

They were giving them away free last weekend Smile

Took 10 days- all but the chilli are sprouting now

BeyondMyWits · 03/04/2020 17:53

chilli, basil, cress, carrots, radish here.

All sprouted - under DD17's gardening prowess Smile.

Cress was tasty - we had 2 bits each!

Drogonssmile · 03/04/2020 17:53

My kids have got one each. A parsley and a forget me not. They're doing quite well in their respective bedroom windowsills and the kids talk to them and water them every day!

DelurkingAJ · 03/04/2020 18:06

My lovely colleague gave me forget-me-nots and chilli for DSs (a few weeks ago!). Forget-me-nots have sprouted, nothing from the chilli yet.

mumwon · 03/04/2020 18:19

you have forget me nots - they have that name for a reason! - I love them but dh - not so much

APurpleSquirrel · 03/04/2020 18:44

We've got Parsley & Peppers - no sprouting yet.

Jellykat · 03/04/2020 18:48

Only managed to sprout one Chilli plant so far..

Janaih · 03/04/2020 18:51

Lettuce and cress sprouted here, still waiting on the chili peppers.
Agree they've put more thought into these than the little shop items. Cute but bad for the planet!

deste · 03/04/2020 19:00

I have two violas and one lettuce. They need watered every day, I’m actually surprised at how much they need.

mostlydrinkstea · 03/04/2020 19:01

Chillis take longer to germinate than some other veg. Be patient. I grew them for the first time last year and they were easy once they got going. We harvested loads and froze what we didn't use. They get much hotter in the freezer.

deste · 03/04/2020 19:02

Put them on a sunny windowsill.
