I got an email telling me I could no longer edit my next order. This comes on the back of them completely cancelling the last one. I needed to add lots of the items from the cancelled delivery, and was planning on doing it in the wee small hours vv early tomorrow morning. Two fucked up orders in a row.

I get that they need more stability in their systems. So do other providers. Waitrose emailed all customers to say that editing deadlines would be brought forwards, before they actually did it.

Right now I can't even check what is in my trolley so I can try to shop elsewhere for all the other stuff I need but had not yet added.

(I'm having a bad day for several other reasons, and this has upset me to much more than it should).

ManlyMenAreWe · 18/03/2020 16:40

Blimey. They've held out well and presumably bearing the brunt of picking up everyone that's tried to use the less sophisticated online delivery websites like Sainsburys, Tescos etc and gone to Ocado instead.

I've just remembered our local butcher does delivery, some of the pubs have started it, and there are small local shops too. I hope this is the peak of all the shopping madness though.

GiantKitten · 18/03/2020 17:05

Queue numbers earlier today were close to 30,000, so I think they had to do something to calm things down.

Sorry it’s had such an impact on you, @AuntieStella Sad

Reopening on Saturday. Maybe it won’t be quite as frantic by then & they’ll have had time to beef up their systems.

@AuntieStella I also needed to add lots of things and couldn't. You can however check your email order confirmation for what you had put in your trolley and checked out already, so that at least solves part of your problem.

InvisibleToEveryone · 18/03/2020 18:29

Heard on the radio that they are shutting it down for a while.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 18/03/2020 19:12

I was hoping to add some things for my elderly neighbour but can’t now. Feel bad that I offered to help and now I can’t.

poppym12 · 18/03/2020 23:19

My order is due on Saturday. We usually have a Sunday delivery but slots were few and far between for this week when I booked it. We may end up with some bizarre meal combinations as I usually leave editing my order until the day before delivery.

whensmynexthol1day · 18/03/2020 23:27

Oh dear I might be getting a solitary (very expensive) bottle of champagne then next week if I can't get in to change my order!

Neednewwellies · 18/03/2020 23:29

I managed to edit mine at midnight this morning. I first tried to do it around 9.30pm and Ordinarily I’d never wait that long but like many people (not the arsewiping, hoarding bastards) we need loo roll. It only let me have one pack but that will do for now. Managed to put a couple of extra freezer meals on too in case we’re stuck in for 14days soon. I’m soooo glad I stuck with it last night.

Quarantino · 18/03/2020 23:47

Good placeholders to make up a £40 shop that you might need anyway - nappies, big block of cheese, chicken breasts, sticky toffee pudding, soup, sausages, eggs, frozen veg. It's surprisingly easy to spend £40.

Isawthathaggis · 18/03/2020 23:56

GrinGrinGrin I placed an order last week to be delivered today. As usual I was in a bit of a mood when I made the order, mostly over how much I hate planning ahead and trying to diet and feed all the family with the least hassle. So the order was a bit mad. I usually go back the day before and re-jig it into something sensible.

Not this time.
This time 14,000 people were also trying to re-jig their order at the same time so I couldn’t make any changes.
I am now the proud owner of 15 jars of stage one baby food and 12 avocados. 200g of nduja and 4 bottles of Robinson’s double strength orange juice.
Not sure how many meals I can cobble together with this!?!?

On the bright side we’ll be well hydrated and the twins well fed for a bit.

I shall need to get better at this online ordering thing.

Isawthathaggis · 18/03/2020 23:59

Just saying who the fuck panic buys avocados?

Me apparently

Quarantino · 19/03/2020 00:01

oops...
If we learn anything from this pandemic it's to fill your placeholder basket with stuff that's vaguely edible Grin

Onceuponatimethen · 19/03/2020 00:05

Mine gets generated by the automatic shop and weirdly my email says I’m getting six huge milks Hmm

Onceuponatimethen · 19/03/2020 00:05

That’s if it comes which it didn’t this week

GiantKitten · 19/03/2020 00:32

My placeholder for 2 weeks time (I reached the head of the queue at about half past midnight, @Neednewwellies Grin) is 9 bottles of my regular £4.99 wine.

I think I can live with that Wine

If i can't get in to change mine before Friday night, I'll be in receipt of 48 bottles of cider.

I don't drink alcohol.

LiveFatsDieYoGnu · 19/03/2020 13:13

I'm getting gin, butter and tea bags if the Saturday orders don't become editable again...
