Anyone else's Facebook posts going 'against community standards'?

I've had three notifications this morning for separate things I've shared - one about protecting mental health during the CV outbreak, one about Italians singing on their balconies and another about the Weinstein trial, all from the BBC. Apparently they go against community standards for spam and have been removed. It's happened to a couple of FB friends, too. All the stuff shared is from legit sources.

Anyone else? Is it a glitch? The idea of having my FB suspended right now is really scary, I'm about to start 12 weeks' isolation and it's one of my only links to the outside world/silly memes.

I got one about a BBC link about ibuprofen and caronavirus. Didnt know whether it's because the original link was removed (which talked rubbish) or whether they didnt like the legitimate article I posted to counter the fake one

I got one of these too, about a link I posted of a R4 interview with a Nuffield specialist. It was really informative, no strange opinions or anything. Wierd

It’s a glitch in their spam detector www.nationalobserver.com/2020/03/17/news/facebook-removing-links-coronavirus-information-government-websites

SecondaryBurnzzz · 18/03/2020 08:07

Thanks @luxurywoman2020 I feel better now!

BoccaBaciata · 18/03/2020 08:11

@LuxuryWoman2020 ah thank you. I hope they get it sorted soon and don't start automatically suspending accounts which their algorithms or whatever think have breached standards too often.

They say it’s been sorted, I copied this from the daily mail if you don’t like opening links

Facebook says bug in its system meant all coronavirus posts were mistakenly marked as SPAM
Facebook users have complained that they were blocked from sharing links to articles and 'emergency information' about COVID-19
Several users theorized that the issue was due to the fact that the company's moderators has been sent home amid the coronavirus crisis
However, Facebook's vice president of integrity stated that a 'bug' in the company's anti-spam system was behind the glitch
He claimed the bug blocked all sorts of posts, and not just those relating to COVID-19
The issue has since been fixed

MuseumOfYou · 18/03/2020 08:47

I reposted a bbc link about the theft of lead from a local church roof - that was marked spam too!

JellyfishandShells · 18/03/2020 08:49

There was a statement on the BBC website about the mistaken marking of links to them as spam

ShirleyPhallus · 18/03/2020 08:49

I’m glad they’re being blocked, everyone sharing CV stuff is promptly being unfollowed on FB by me!

Passmethatyoke · 18/03/2020 09:07

Me too! I posted a link to online St. Patrick's celebrations.

BoccaBaciata · 18/03/2020 10:01

@ShirleyPhallus why? A lot of it is incredibly useful - the Covid 19 Mutual Aid local groups are a lifeline, as is some of the mental health stuff. It's 99% of what people are talking about right now, your feed must be very quiet!

And it's not just CV stuff that's getting blocked anyway.

ShirleyPhallus · 18/03/2020 10:07

@BoccaBaciata because I have news outlets to get reputable news from, I go on social media for light relief. Far too many people also sharing fake news and scaremongering on SM too.

CoolcoolcoolcoolcoolNoDoubt · 18/03/2020 10:25

I've had similar messages on Instagram.. wondering whether it was this same issue?

maras2 · 18/03/2020 10:49

I'm the least contentious FB poster but had 5 of these notifications in the early hours apparently due to 'sharing' a funny pussy cat video.Confused.
Hope that it's a glitch as I felt really odd seeing all of those messages in my e.mail box this morning.
