Don't believe so, my friend is stuck in Gran Canaria, has booked on a Ryanair flight next Mon to get her home and EasyJet are refunding the return part of her original fare

Standrewsschool · 17/03/2020 15:27

I think all foreign travel has been banned.

CalmYoBadSelf · 17/03/2020 15:29

No but they have cancelled a lot of flights. I think flights out are largely cancelled but they are still bringing people home

notimagain · 17/03/2020 15:30

Errrr..Nope, they have some aircraft airborne ATM (Tuesday PM) over parts of Europe

listsandbudgets · 17/03/2020 15:30

No or they'd have been delisted from the stockmarket. Their shares have lost about 2/3 of their value over the last month but they are still surviving.

Its really quite scary looking at their chart and that of most other companies at the moment.

Easy Jet Share Price

Dowser · 17/03/2020 15:40

Thank you
Friend in uk thought they had and worried my other friend wasn’t going to get home with disabled siphon as their website showed cancelled

OP posts:
Sparklingplasters · 17/03/2020 15:43

They’ve cancelled all their flights

caffeinefix · 17/03/2020 15:48

I have heard they are going to make people redundant - this is through a friend who works for them.

vingt · 17/03/2020 15:51

Not yet....

Batshittery · 17/03/2020 15:52

They have cancelled outgoing passenger flights but are bringing people back who are already abroad. So I believe.

handslikecowstits · 17/03/2020 16:01

Raab has just said that we're going to start repatriating people so she'll be brought home soon, I'd imagine.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 17/03/2020 16:07

No. All repatriation flights are being coordinated through the airlines (ds works for an airline) and they are prioritising those who have been waiting longest as well as taking account of lockdowns in different countries. Apparently it could be April before everyone is repatriated.

stairway · 17/03/2020 16:12

I hope so, my husband is stuck abroad.

notimagain · 17/03/2020 16:29

The danger here is this becomes a self fulfilling rumour.

Easyjet announced several days ago they were grounding a large percentage of their fleet...

That said one look at Flight radar will show multiple Easyjet aircraft airborne right now, some on UK domestic routes, some on "internal" European routes or European domestic routes, e.g; over France , there's one just landed into Paris from the UK...so no, ATM, tea time Tuesday they have not "gone bust".

There are however issues into/out of some countries due to the various restrictions some nations are putting on entry, which means a lot, but not all of their flights, and other operators flights, are cancelled.

Tomorrow of course is another day.

LIZS · 17/03/2020 17:33

200 jobs cut at LGW. Probably ground staff and trainee crew.

Munchietime · 17/03/2020 23:14

That's 200 airport employees not Easyjet staff.

Dowser · 18/03/2020 15:39

Easy jet is flying today.
Heard one announced for Gatwick
We are presently stuck on the tarmac as we’ve missed our slot
Thanks to the Vienna plane passengers not getting to their plane quickly enough

MulticolourMophead · 18/03/2020 15:50

I just saw several flights in the air on Flight Radar for Easyjet.

fussychica · 18/03/2020 16:14

Well that made me look!
Had an email re winter flights this morning at no more than £30 each way but despite having some accommodation booked for Portugal in November we aren't going to book flights until much later in the day as who knows a. All the airlines may go bust before then and b. Everywhere could still be in lockdown.
Worrying times.

fussychica · 18/03/2020 16:14

Hope you friend can get home soon.

Ponoka7 · 18/03/2020 17:07

@caffeinefix

"I have heard they are going to make people redundant - this is through a friend who works for them."

My friend works for them, she has been suspended without pay, as is allowed in her contract, for five times in a year. This is temporary. They expect us to go into lock down with flights only for essentials.

There has been redundancies in the airport that she works out of, though.
