Please share anything mundane, funny, sweet you name it Smile

I'm in denmark, started my day by letting out the cats, only they didn't feel like it, so they sat in the doorway a loong time and now it is freezing.

I'm planning on washing my curtains as they have been taken down due to renovating the living room.

Oh and I'm going to shave my whiskers today, suddenly appeared at the sides of my mouth Hmm.

Yes you are right I'm bored. Please tell me about your interesting lives.

Anyone know anything about rubber plants? I bought one and have no idea where it might like to be in the house?

I am still on the settee. Sad

Speminalium · 17/03/2020 11:39

I have cleared up breakfast and the baby (yogurt head to toe) had a bath, sent kids to play in garden and then spent 2 HOURS making Jamie Oliver's spinach cannelloni with the end of Sunday's chicken, including 2 for the freezer in case civilisation comes to an end. So far lockdown seems dull but doable , with enough gin.

theoriginalmadambee · 17/03/2020 11:42

@Kellyshort22 try asking on the relationship board, best of luck, it sounds hard.

@Sparklingbrook
Don't know much about rubber plants, but I'm sure it will make a good settee buddy, perhaps a cuddle will make it feel at home?

I will have a chat with it @theoriginalmadambee, see where it wants to live. Grin

I really need to get cracking and do some housework. But I have to go out at half 2 so there's hardly any time really...

Thinkinghappythoughts · 17/03/2020 11:47

  • Got up, sanitised parts of the house where DH may have touched (he was sick in bed two days ago with a cold-like illness, but since has been going to work).
  • Got DD up and took her to school at 7 am.
  • In school, got an email of complaint from a parent who's daughter I made cry yesterday (I am not horrible, but she really is very disorganised and lazy and I had a shite night's sleep)
  • Taught transition-metal complexes for a double chemistry lesson. Then taught organic chemistry. Love teaching chemistry to kids who love it too!
  • Two lessons marking/admin shite.
  • Lovely last lesson with year 7 maths - ended with them playing a game they loved.
  • Staff meeting about the coronavirus and what to do if the school was shut down for one and a half hours.
  • Reply to parent . Best part of half an hour to get the tone right (half apologising and half pointing out daughter's needs)
  • Preparation for tomorrow's lessons (4 lessons varying from inorganic chemistry to year 7 maths).
  • Home at 7 pm - husband informed me, his job may disappear soon. He is a caterer for a company working in a tower block for financial services.
  • Lots of kisses and cuddles from DD. Highlight of my day. She is beautiful no matter how shite the world is
  • Went to the shop to buy a bottle of wine. Don't care if I am hungover tomorrow.

I used to live in denmark:
Hvornår smager en tuborg best? Hvergang! Happy days Smile

theoriginalmadambee · 17/03/2020 11:50

Me too re housework @Sparklingbrook just can't be a... Blush.
I have so much I ought to do after the renovation of livingroom, but can't seem to get on with it.

But hey you lovely people keep me entertained Smile.

Took DD swimming. She loves her swimming lesson and trying to keep some aspects normal. Now sitting on my bed when I have 200 jobs I could be doing around the house but I have no concentration at the moment. Feeling very deflated. DD can’t see her great grandparents for 3 months which seems unbearably long and they are heartbroken. And I also have no childcare but that doesn’t really matter at the moment as I’m guessing I’ll be working from home come Friday.

Sparklingbrook · 17/03/2020 11:53

I feel so demotivated to do anything but I am going to go and do 15 minutes of tidying. I will be back...

Actually, now I have written that down, I have realised how much I enjoy my job.

The mixture of activities and intellectual challenge: from chemical figuring out at 8.30 in the morning in front an extremely expectant and judgemental audience, explaining how to multiply negative numbers to bored teenagers 10 minutes before they go home to handling the psychology of dealing with management and parents.

I really enjoy it and although I am fucking knackered and obviously needed a glass or two of wine (and the rest!), I do love it.

Bluebell121 · 17/03/2020 11:58

My days super exciting , I'm in isolation with my kids 👌😃

happypotamus · 17/03/2020 12:01

Got up and ready, took DC to school, procrastinated about housework all morning, now really must do some, then have a small nap, pick DC up, dinner, get them ready for bed, go to work a night shift, continuously try not to descend into panic

Thinkinghappythoughts · 17/03/2020 12:01

I used to live in denmark, then moved to sweden and married my swedish husband.

I am trying to think danish, but it only comes out in swedish in my head.

We love going to denmark, it is like such a happy, go-lucky version of sweden. (Although I can actually understand what people say in sweden while it will forever be a mystery in danish)

theoriginalmadambee · 17/03/2020 12:06

Well @Thinkinghappythoughts there is only one thing to do about the language: trade your husband in for a Dane, you'll soon get the hang of it Grin. (When you have learnt, you can always go back to the sweedish one)

theoriginalmadambee · 17/03/2020 12:08

Not trying to insult sweedish people, I have sweedish family (they are weird 🤣)

@BillywigSting aww he/she is adorable. Dd would love to get one, so far we have decided that the cat/hamster combo isn't worth a try Wink.

I met an american ice-hockey player who moved to sweden, learnt swedish, then discovered denmark. He told me just speak swedish like you are drunk. He had been there for decades!

BillywigSting · 17/03/2020 12:21

@theoriginalmadambee it's a boy. Technically ds's but he doesn't even remember to feed the poor thing. He's only five months old so still pretty quick but he's a big softy. Getting a decent picture is not easy!

BiddyPop · 17/03/2020 12:30

After 14 y o DD (who is as tall as me so a great big lump!!) jumped all over me still in bed this morning, we have:

Put on a load of washing (which we’ve just taken back in off the line as forecast rain has started - but it got 2 hours out!!) - a second load is nearly finished washing

Dd hoovered our DH’s car - mine is apparently on her list for tomorrow

I did a yoga session following Yoga with Adrienne
Dd spent 20 minutes throwing a ball at me on the green out the front

DH is painting the bathroom ceiling upstairs so that meant moving everything out of his way

Dd has done a project plan for her maths project for school - designing the survey of her classmates

I have written and delivers a note to an elderly neighbour to make sure she had our phone numbers for anything she needs

And I about to have a cup of tea and a biscuit

perfumeistooexpensive · 17/03/2020 12:36

I'm in A&E at a major regional hospital with DH. Strangely quiet as everyone here are real emergencies. The time wasters have disappeared. It's very interesting to see the change in dynamics as I'm often here with DH and it's usually rammed. We were sent in by his GP.

theoriginalmadambee · 17/03/2020 13:07

I have finally removed my whiskers, and put the cat's petting? stone back in place in the livingroom. Yes one cat has a patio stone which he loves to cuddle .

@Thinkinghappythoughts Danes probably thought your friend was just another drunk swede. It was a thing back when Sweden had restrictions on alcohol. Soo many Swedes came here to stock up and drink. I live near Sweden and at times this was a real problem.

@BillywigSting he is lovely, my take is that if you buy a pet for your dc, you should be buying it for you, it will end up that way after all Smile.
