Red patch on baby's face. Need Dr or nurse advice

Hi all,
If any doctors or nurses are reading, can you tell me what this red patch on my nephew's cheek might be.
My brother is in the USA with the baby and can't get any help from the paediatrician until tomorrow and he is worried.
Thanks

You can just get it on one cheek ...

Thanks for the bump and the reply. He doesn't have a temperature, but does have a runny nose and cough.

Any evidence of teething on that side of his mouth?

ZoeandChandon · 15/03/2020 23:20

I was going to say slapped cheek too.

ThinkPinkStink · 15/03/2020 23:24

Not a doctor.

If he's teething, I'd expect to see a cheek like that on the teething-side.

If it's rough and dry, it could be eczema.

If he's peeing and feeding normally, and not particularly upset, I probably wouldn't worry (and this is coming from the woman who called 111 because her 12 week old was crying).

Worriedauntie · 15/03/2020 23:24

He's dribbling a lot so might be teething

He is a really happy baby, but he's recently been very ill (pneumonia) so everyone is a bit more nervous than they might otherwise be

Teething can cause very localised bright red patch on cheek so I would agree with others it might well be that

Thanks everyone. I appreciate you taking the time to reply
