Over 70s...

(Lighthearted...I'm really not being flippant but this thought occurred to me)

After watching 'The Last Leg', the thought popped into my head about quarantining anyone over 70 & who would be considered 'vulnerable' and I wondered who else would be included...

(This is lighthearted as much as it can be...I am fully aware that this situation is horribly serious and quarantining anyone over 70 would also include both my parents, uncles & my lovely next door neighbour Sad)

I was thinking, well, who else is over 70??
It also includes:

The Queen
Bruce Springsteen
Helen Mirren
John Cleese
Sir David Attenborough
Rod Stewart
Sir Ian McKellen
Dame Judi Dench
Brian May
Dolly Parton
Meryl Streep
David Jason

I think I'm realising how old much of our (&the US's) celebs are...Shock

Meryl Streep
Twiggy

Quite a few of our judges are over 70
And consultants
I began to see my Gp when she was 70 and I was delighted to be her patient at 91 when she retired

She would’ve been outraged at this suggestion.
I suspect my new go is over 70

I think it's a really fascinating question! I'll be fascinated to see what transpires once it becomes official.

CheeseCakeSunflowers · 15/03/2020 22:39

I bet Donald Trump doesn't introduce it in the USA as it would include him.

CheeseCakeSunflowers · 15/03/2020 22:46

On a worrying note the average age of UK farmers is 55, 4 out of 10 are over 65. It's been a big concern in the industry for some time. Farmers do work in a fairly isolated manner but this policy could potentially reduce the workforce of the people who are quite literally at the grass roots end of the food industry.

ErrolTheDragon · 15/03/2020 22:49

But it includes Biden and Sanders as well as Trump.

Princess Anne is 70 this year..she just escapes the cull

The idea is to prevent a cull of the over 70s!

AdaColeman · 15/03/2020 23:21

Vivienne Westwood
Derek Jacobi
Glenda Jackson

mamansnet · 15/03/2020 23:38

mumwon · 15/03/2020 23:45

(I volunteer to house Patrick Stewart - not sure what dh would make of it though!) I am not offering sanctuary to trump though - they can keep him

theluckiest · 15/03/2020 23:46

Christ, I'd forgotten that the Donald is over 70...he can fuck off though. His ego would not fit through my front door.

Bruce Springsteen can come stay in my spare room.

As can Joanna Lumley, Al Pacino and Julie Walters.

Bruce Springsteen is over 70?

He was my first love. I knew all the words of by heart to his early songs, he was my absolute hero.

I married my ex husband because he looked a bit like Bruce.

theluckiest · 15/03/2020 23:56

@RedIsWhereItsAt Bruce is delicious at any age.

Ah no, has a though - Ozzy Osbourne may have to stay in the spare room with Bruce. No naughty parties though Ozzy. Perhaps Brian May could be the voice of reason?

Oh bollocks...forgot that I need to squeeze in Trevor Macdonald and Bob Dylan too. They'll just have to top n tail in the kid's bedroom.

@theluckiest

They can't share, your spare room is too small. I'll have Bruce, it's really no problem, I don't mind at all.
