Just had lovely cat pts

Just that really. Came down this morning and she was struggling to breathe (resurgance of cat flu). Straight to the vet but her lungs were collapsing. She was only five and such a lovely friendly cat.

Her name was Zac. I shall miss her black and white face staring at me through the window. I just wanted to get it out, I have to go to work later and not cry.

Oh I’m sorry Flowers. Losing a pet is so hard.

I know she had a too short life but at least it was a lovely life with an owner who loved her and did the very best for her.

Zaphodsotherhead · 15/03/2020 13:55

Thank you. I'm usually fairly stoic about these things, but I think my base line anxiety has made me a little more sensitive today, wth the world as it is.

Poor kitty.
I lost my lovely cat to an undiagnosed kidney problem last year. It is so upsetting.
You have my sympathies Flowers

MinkyWinky · 15/03/2020 13:59

I'm so sorry. We thought we were going to have to PTS one of our cats a couple of weeks ago (it was really touch and go and we're not out of the woods yet). I was really upset and depressed about it.

Big unMumsnetty hugs.

IPokeBadgers · 15/03/2020 13:59

Oh sweetheart I'm so sorry for your loss. The furry wee feckers really do work their way into your heart and break it when it's time for them to go.

Sending love 💐

Youngatheart00 · 15/03/2020 14:01

So sorry for your loss. Pets really are an important member of the family and I felt the loss of our lovely female cat last year as much as the loss of a person.

In time it helped me to print some photos of her and remember all the silly / lovely things she used to do.

Sending love Flowers

Kalim8 · 15/03/2020 14:02

I'm so sorry for your loss x

Frownette · 15/03/2020 14:02

I'm sorry. Putting her out of misery was the kindest thing to do.

Have a little cry when you get back from work Flowers

cakeandchampagne · 15/03/2020 14:03

Flowers So sorry about your cat.

Zaphodsotherhead · 15/03/2020 14:25

Thank you everyone. I am just going to snivel my way through my work shift. The dog hasn't been hugged so much since I had the old dog pts eighteen months ago!

My rescue girl is about 17 , there's just the two of us. She was taken from a house with over 20 cats and dozens of kittens. I've given her a nice life, lots of cuddles, plenty of food and a clean litter tray, bit I know she's not going to last forever and I'll miss her so much when she's gone.

lifeisgoodmostofthetime · 15/03/2020 15:07

Sending you lots of hugs. Such as sad time for you. She isn't suffering and you did the best for her. You gave her lots of love and a loving home. Lots of lovely memories for both of you. A nice pic of her by your bedside maybe?

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/03/2020 16:42

I’m so sorry, I lost mine and the pains just awful.

Miggymoggymugwumps · 15/03/2020 18:54

Lost my darling puss last month due to a feline stroke. I was devastated and miss her so much. So I know exactly how you feel - sending you all my sympathies.

@Zaphodsotherhead

Oh, I am.so.sorry for you. I had this with Chloe. I won't ever forget her and her cute face, or the way she'd get on the garage roof and meow to be helped down!... Then complain.you got her down.

This might have been 11/12 years ago, but I'll never forget her.

I have a real little shit bag now! I love her like mad mind! Molly... Half my Instagram page is taken up with her.pics! lol

When we had to put Chloe to sleep, it broke my fking heart. As I came from the room with tears rolling down my face, I was ready.tompinch the first one to comment on the waiting room! I knew tho, she was in a better place, no more squeaky rasping breathing, she was free.

The next day I took a.sickie, and me n the ex went out for the day to do something in her memory... Can't remember now, I try to forget the ex! lol

Yes, I am a man, but I love my little fur-babies, even if they can be a real shitbag at times!

Top pic, is Molly
Bottom pic, is me n chloe

I’m so sorry, losing a pet is awful. Take it easy this evening if you can ❤️

Zaphodsotherhead · 16/03/2020 11:25

Thank you all so much for the support!

I got through my work shift, came home and the shed where she slept is so empty. I'm leaving her beds in there for now, I can't cope with clearing it all out.

I still have one other cat, who's bravely doing double duty, and my dog, who is needy at the best of times but today her clinginess is being rather endearing, so she's getting lots of cuddles. No work today but I'm distracting myself with other stuff.

Thank you all again. This is what I love Mumsnet for.

Sorry to hear about your Zac x

Sparklfairy · 16/03/2020 11:34

Oh OP I'm so so sorry Flowers nothing I can say can make you feel better, but I am thinking of you.

TravellingSpoon · 16/03/2020 11:40

Im really sorry OP. It's so hard losing a pet and you have all my sympathies.

HebeMumsnet · 16/03/2020 11:42

So sorry, OP. Flowers for you. I had a lovely black and white cat we had to have PTS a few years ago and I still miss his face. I found concentrating on what a nice life we gave him helped (he had a shortish life too due to a heart condition). I'm sure Zac had a very happy time with you and made the most of her years.
