Calorie calculating app

DuckyMcDuck · 15/03/2020 12:24

For medical reasons I need to carefully calculate the number of calories in what I eat. Docs said I should use an app to do that but didn't recommend one so need a recommendation please .

Not too complicated though!

Thanks

I like MyFitnessPal and have also used Loseit. I would start with MyFitnessPal.

Nutracheck

BananaBang · 15/03/2020 14:22

Nutro check is the best and knocks MFP out the water in terms of ease of use and all the other bits and pieces

Aardvarkitsabloodyaardvark · 15/03/2020 14:28

Yes definately Nutracheck, has a UK database so very accurate, people can't just add random calories for things and has a great team to contact.

£3.99 per month or cheaper paying the year in one go.
I've used both MFP and Nutracheck.

I use Lifesum.

My fitness pal - free and can scan things most uk food there apart from of very newly released

Simonsaysitschristmas · 15/03/2020 17:19

Sorry - realised my previous answer was maybe a little unhelpful but banana and aardvark have luckily explained the benefits of nutracheck. The fact it’s a UK database rather than USA is SO helpful compared to my fitness pal. They also offer a free trial (I think 7 days) and if you don’t log more than 10 items you can get it for free. One option is to search the calories on nutracheck but to not “log” them in the app and instead write them in a notebook. That way you won’t have to pay. However, I do pay the £4 just for ease and I really think it’s worth it :)

Thank you everyone, I'll have a look at these.
