Empty gestational sac

So I had a surprise pregnancy, so didn’t know how far long I was. But thought I should be at least 6 weeks, judging on BD with partner. I went in and have a gestational sac measuring 8.6mm. But NOTHING inside. I have to go back in 2 weeks time. But thought it was quite a large gestational sac to be empty . Anyone else have something similar ?

Yes.
It’s called blighted ovum.
It’s effectively a miscarriage unfortunately. I’ve had several of these.

Not pleasant.
They want you to go back in 2 weeks to either confirm miscarriage or see if there has been anything developed in the sac.
There still could be a baby developing but just too small to see. In 2 weeks you will know for sure.
You will still continue to have strong pregnancy symptoms even if nothing develops.
You may start to bleed, you may not.
They will give you information and choices when they and you know for sure.

Thank you for replies, hate this 2 week wait. Just wondered what people’s stories were when the sac was that big. Is it more likely to be blighted ovum if the GS is 8.6 ...Gosh every day feels soo long !

The empty gestational sac I saw is now a hulking 16 year old.

My empty gestational 7 weeks sac is now 14 is snoring the night away.

Ahh really guys, I just though because the sac was soooo big , there should of been something .. but in 1week and 5 days I’ll know for sure .. what a wait
