Quorn pieces

I've not been able to get quorn pieces for about 2-3 months. Have they stopped doing them? They were one of my staple foods Grin

Just checked my Tesco app - they only have the chilled version, not the frozen version.

Moofart · 14/03/2020 19:48

I've had trouble finding them over the last few months too

Selfsettling3 · 14/03/2020 20:00

I think it’s because they are not vegan. Tesco are selling Birdseye vegan stuff instead. I’m struggling to find quorn sausages and meatballs but I did see some in Iceland the other day.

JudasHisCarrot · 14/03/2020 20:02

What do you do with quorn pieces? I always like the look of them but not sure how to use them. Any recipes greatly received Grin

MargotMoon · 14/03/2020 20:07

I use them in Thai/Indian curries instead of chicken - lovely.

Raahh · 14/03/2020 20:07

There is a vegan version of the Quorn pieces. I bought them by accident once. They were vile.

bobstersmum · 14/03/2020 20:12

Oh good grief, I bought some of these recently as one of my ds won't eat meat, made a curry with it and the pieces were just horrible
How are you supposed to eat them to enjoy it?

Raahh · 14/03/2020 20:15

I like the normal version by the way- but the vegan version were like cardboard.

mnahmnah · 14/03/2020 20:18

I’ve got them recently no problem. Asda and Sainsbury’s. Maybe Morrison’s.

BikeRunSki · 14/03/2020 20:19

I stir fry them.

HisBetterHalf · 14/03/2020 20:23

Aldi and Lidl have them

Coniferhedge · 14/03/2020 20:23

Quorn really seem to be getting rid of a lot of lines recently. I don’t know what’s happening. Apparently Best of British sausages have been discontinued, the suet pudding was discontinued a while ago and I haven’t seen their ‘chicken’ pies for ages either. I like Quorn products.

6demandingchildren · 14/03/2020 21:04

The Tesco chicken style pieces are even better

Flywheel · 14/03/2020 21:10

Can't help with finding the pieces but for those asking for recipes, there's a lovely laksa on the quorn website. Only problem is it is too salty so I halve the soy sauce.

Lordfrontpaw · 14/03/2020 21:10

They have dumped a load of the old favourites and are focussing of ready meals and fast food collaborations (McD, Ginsters pasties etc). They really are chasing the veganary crowd (not vegans but want to ‘be good’ so swap their meat pie for a Quorn one once a week). Bugger the vegetarians - the veganified versions don’t taste as good. I miss the hot dogs and best of British.

Supermarkets near me now had Vegan shelves with the odd vegetarian offering - and my local M&S has a vegan section - the ‘vegetarian’ section is just prepared vegetables!

So part time vegans have pretty much stuffed the full time vegetarians!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/03/2020 21:26

Apparently Best of British sausages have been discontinued Ah , Bum, these were nice Sad

I've noticed the Quorn frozen items haven't been available online but I got some fillets instore . They had the frozen pieces but I don't know if they were the vegan ones .

Finallyatooth · 14/03/2020 21:41

I've noticed a lot of vegetarian stuff being replaced by vegan stuff. It's a bit frustrating for me because there is often stuff in vegan food that I can't eat.

Lordfrontpaw · 14/03/2020 23:21

Would that be a lack of taste?

thereinmadnesslies · 14/03/2020 23:23

Haven’t found frozen quorn pieces for weeks, I’ve tried loads of different supermarkets. I’m coeliac so I can’t have the quorn vegan pieces because they contain wheat. It’s a bit rubbish

AlunWynsKnee · 14/03/2020 23:25

Me too Finally. The vegan pieces aren't gluten free so I can't eat them.

ThatMeryl · 15/03/2020 01:50

I've been looking in vain for the Quorn meatballs for ages...

Tiredoutteacher2020 · 15/03/2020 06:29

Ah so not just me. I make stew with them, curries, stir fry etc. I tried the vegan pieces. They weren't anywhere near as nice even in a strong curry.

Pearl97 · 15/03/2020 06:35

I use the fillets in curries etc.

ChocolateCoffeeCake · 15/03/2020 06:43

I've not been able to find Quorn meatballs for about a year. I even emailed them to ask if they had been discontinued! (Apparently not.)

Tiredoutteacher2020 · 15/03/2020 07:03

Pearl - For some reason I don't like the fillets despite loving the pieces.
