Bastard cough virus (that *probably* isn't C-19)

Those of you that have had the crappy everlasting cough that has been doing the rounds, how long did said cough last? I'm at the end of week 4 and don't think I can take much more. I started with flu symptons for a week or so and then they calmed downed but left with chest infection, which in turn left me with bastard cough (hospital didn't swab for C19 as it kicked off before the major outbreak here).

Oh no. You are all describing how I've been for two weeks now. Feel bad, cough, bit of a sore throat, start to feel better, then feel rough again. Changes day by day. Thought I had finally turned a corner with it today but this evening I have a sore throat starting and really sore ears.

Several of my colleagues had this in January. They were too ill to come to work for about 2-4 days then came back but the cough went on for weeks.

@ Maomi , yep I did wonder especially as the firm had factories in China and people going back and forward

And yes was woken this morning by OH coughing

I had this for 3 weeks in January. The lack of appetite made me feel exhausted. I don't normally get bad coughs but this was awful. When I had to lie down I had something bubbling up in my windpipe making a horrible sound. I was actually quite scared. Once my appetite returned I improved quite quickly.
